So far my kit will contain:
HTC Evo 4G (and 2 spare batteries)
Nintendo DS Lite (and 4 games)
Ear buds
Water bottle(s)
Chargers for DS+Phone (just in case)
Sharpie (never know when you might want someone's autograph)
Probably some granola bars or some other small snacks.
Toyed with the idea of bringing a laptop, but I think that I won't actually use it and it will just be extra weight to carry.
May grab some hand sanitizer and pain reliever just in case.
All will be in my new backpack with plenty of room for some swag.
Wallet with Cash+Card.
How big of a swag bag depends on how much stuff you plan on buying or picking up. To get through the exibit hall, I'd say a big one (like the one Nintendo was handing out last year for the Pokemon fans). If you want to buy more stuff, though, who knows. I won't go as far to say a duffle bad, however.
Although I am not a fan of any energy drinks, I can see why people think they would need them. If you've never spent a day walking around a convention center then you're in for a shock. Depending on what you're interested in attending, you may walk across the length of the center 6 or 7 times in a day, not to mention climbing stairs, etc. A lot of walking, a lot of standing, a lot of screaming in concerts, and as such a lot of spent energy.
Seriously, though, I would suggest eating real food and drinking water to stay hydrated and keep yourself running. It doesn't ware off in a rush and it doesn't bring you down.
My list:
1 liter of water.
1 liter of soda.
2 king size candy bars.
1 medium size bag of chips.
luggage rack
games to demo
camcorder
spare camcorder battery
For those planning on spending times in line, a DS or other portable system is a must. Short, small games for lines are also a must (I saw Zombie Dice listed, which is perfect for a line game).
I'll be too busy demoing games to get in line for something, which is why I'm not bringing my old-school fat boy DS (I also believe in electronics that have been around for a long time :^: ).
I had a laptop bag on me last time and it served me pretty well, this time around I packing pretty light since I'm going to be stuck with my luggage on hand for most of the convention. Figure in the worst case I might spend the extra cash to spend stuff back home through UPS or Fedex.
One thing I have been looking for this time around has been one of those portable USB chargers since my phone is probably going to need it for all the browsing that I'll be doing in line and checking the schedules.

also, hiding in the hotel room will be settlers of catan, munchkin, a laptop, and whatever console i can convince the bf to carry (probably nes, maybe dreamcast for some typing of the dead action). possibly also a few horror movies, especially if the westin has vcrs in their rooms.
Bag of Holding:
1 notebook and loose lined paper
Pencils / Pens
Map of Convention Center + schedule
IBprofen
DS Lite and charger
Cell phone
Tissues (no one's mentioned that yet!)
Hand Sanitizer
A liter of water
Some snacks

2 pairs of socks
Cash
trading cards
Disposable camera? I don't have a digital camera, but I do want pictures!
Menolly is your husband going to be in your bag as well?
I've been to a lot of nerd cons, so my advice is to pack light, and pack smart.

A splendid quandary, Tenaku. Once, again, you have my brain churning...
Still not sure if I'll be using a bag or my Scott-E-Vest Quantum jacket. Last year it was definitely to warm for a coat in the convention hall, but it's usually preferable to carrying a heavy bag. I have, however, considered using my Camelback, as carrying bottles of water can be cumbersome, but one must stay hydrated.
Whatever the means of containment, my list will likely include the following:
Phone (HTC Aria) and charger
DS Lite, charger and a few games
Ear buds
Very basic first aid stuff, i.e. ibuprofen, adhesive medical strips, antiseptic ointment, etc.
Gum and/or mints
Moleskine notepad and pen
Dental Floss
My D&D Dice
Portable analog games, i.e. Cthulhu Dice, Abduction, Magic
Snacks, i.e. granola bars, jerky
Camera
Hand Sanitizer
Sharpie
Like so many others, possibly a 5-Hour Energy drink, or some sort of energy shot. I'm not as young as I once was (Then again, who is?), and once 11:00pm rolls around, and we're in the middle of the Saturday night concerts, I don't want to be complaining about being tired. Wish I'd thought of that last year.
Very basic first aid stuff, i.e. ibuprofen, adhesive medical strips, antiseptic ointment, etc.
i realize this is a just-in-case kind of thing, and is a good idea, but when i first read this i giggled thinking you were planning on getting into a fight or something.

Well, while we PAXers all try to adhere to Wheaton's Law, you can never be too sure what will happen outside the convention's walls.
Shame on you all, I don't see anyone bringing their Towel.
What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Planning on changing up my usual fan con routine to adopt some things from my annual work conference. This is my first PAX and so I'm sure I'll end up carrying more than I need but oh well.
Going to get a new bag (sick of backpacks) and this will be what's in it:

water bottle (refillable)
sugar free Red Bull, 12 oz
munchables (trail mix or granola or bars of some kind, not sure yet)
DS lite
PSP
handheld video recorder
notepad + pen

Reading all the above I feel I'm gonna need a bigger bag than I'm use to carrying around...I wish Tote bags came in more reasonable fashions...
- 5 Hour Energy seems to be a must

- EXTRA ROOM IN BAG for buying more nonsense
I feel like I should clean my room before PAX due to increase volume of me and my need to buy everything lol - I'm a girl and I like shopping I can't help it!

Based on my past history at cons, considering ordering a case of travel-sized spray deodorants (Axe or the like) to hand out to Those In Need.
Thank you for going that extra mile to improve the con experience for everyone
this is a very thoughtful gesture, but i would recommend maybe not so much axe. as a general note to anyone, while deodorant is great, anything too cologne/perfume-like in close quarters may irritate the allergies of persons like myself who are allergic to such things. maybe i'm just a big weirdo (true), but i'd much rather deal with someone's bo than have to retreat to my room due to sneezy allergy grossness.
