My store only had Sly 2 in stock, nothing else from the clerance. Most shops in the country will have something on this list on it, but most not.

If anyone does get a spare Xbox, a friend of mine's xbox just broke, I'm sure he would pay £10 for it.

you might be able to phone up, but I suggest just going and looking on the shelves. Maybe ask about the Xbox consoles.

Alas, my Xbox quest was not to be fruitful. But let me share my story nonetheless:

As soon as I saw this thread, I knew I had limited time, if any at all, to take advantage and buy an Xbox with a pound coin. I sprang into action as soon as I read the offerings.

I live in Cardiff, and I don't know it brilliantly, so I looked up the nearest PC World store to me. Turns out it's close to an hour's walk from me, so I got the bus about half way then walked the rest.

I was greeted, in store, by a lack of Xboxes, and stupid staff, as is common in places like this. I asked a general helper dude:

Me: "Have you got any Xboxes in stock?"
Him: "Let me check"
Him: "You mean the Core System, right?"
Me: "No, I mean the original Xbox"

He goes over to the Xbox 360 display section, and looks for a second, then says "Let me check the storeroom"

He goes in, then comes back out with a Core 360. I sigh internally.

Him: "You meant the Core System, right?"
Me: "No, the original Xbox."
Another helper guy: "You want the premium pack with the harddrive and the wireless controller, right?"
Me: "No. Not the 360. The original Xbox"
Another helper guy: "Oh, right. Yeah, we don't have any of those in stock. They don't make any games for it any more, so they just stop producing the consoles. You'll want to check somewhere like GameStation for that."
Me: "Thanks"

I was inwardly sighing the whole time this was taking place.

I honestly don't think ANY PC World stores will carry an original Xbox, because it is an old console, and they've got the Xbox 360 to concentrate on. But good luck to everyone else. Just don't get your hopes up.

I don't really mind that nothing came of it though, it was quite an adventure.

It's very likely that they don't carry them anymore, and just have that amazing price on an item they don't have to get people into the store. It's a flawed logic, but I can see how it'd make sense to them.

crap, closest i'm going to be to a PC World for a while was today, and even that wasn't close. I'd buy a bunch of HL2 copies just in case i found someone who didn't, so i could evangelise the good word. At that price, it should be in every hotel room, just beneath the Bible.

Good luck to everyone else. I highly suggest that if you can get multiple of good items to do so, worst case scenario its worth more than you paid on ebay/trade in, or you can return it, but maybe someone on hear might like it.

Ok, so I just got back.

I managed to get some official PS2 DVD remotes, A Xploder V4 (PS2) and a Mad Catz RetroCon (which is awesome)

Then I went backl to PC world, and found a few of the games that are supposed to be on clearance, I got them price checked and they were at the high prices still. I went to customer services and said that they are cheaper on their website, the lady there said I had to reserve for in store collection if I were to want the web price, but the web site won't let me because it is saying its out of stock in the store. Argh!
I'm about to phone their customer services to see if they can sort it out

Couldn't find anything on the list at mine either. The deal sites are suggesting that Currys and Dixons (being part of the same group as PCWorld) will be doing the same reductions but starting on Monday.

Since I'm not doing anything tomorrow morning I'll probably wander down fro opening and see what's what.

I used to work at Blockbusters. Any time prices like these were sent down to us the staff would have a field day buying up the 97p stock (minus employee discount). I'm sure the PC World staff will be doing the same thing. Any xboxs actually in stock will never see the shelves. Bum.

Popped into Currys this morning, but all they had was a couple of copies of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent for 97p and a few random GBA and A/V accessories for 47p.

Nothing good, and no Xboxen.

Shall be calling in to Currys today on dinner and seeing if I can snap up any bargains. I imagine my home town (a tiny little town in the lake district) with both a currys and a PC World will have some stuff available. I may try to get a friend to check.

After all, just before Xmas I was able to walk in and pick up a Wii off a shelf.

yeah twas, I put it in. Aswell as a link to this thread (since I decided this was potentially thread worthy in its own right)

Note that Dixons Group (so dixons PC world and Currys) are also selling consoles for £50 now.

I can't wait for them to do the next round of price drops, if it includes official PS2 controlls + Single official memory cards I should be quids in, my local has tones of 'em.

I got an unopened Dreamcast from Gamestation for £12.

No luck finding any Xboxs though. That fortress idea was definetly doable, if they had any stock I would have bought it all.

Saturday; took two buses into Kilmarnock's Curry's. Got nothing.

But as stated in this thread, it started today for Curries, so I took a walk down there between lectures at Strathclyde University.

Got Chronicles of Riddick, two MadCatz RGB scart blocks, two MadCatz Microcon Steering wheels & pedals, and twelve Xploder Game Saves Lite packs, all for under £10.
