God of War: Chains of Olympus

Chains of Olympus is the prequel game in the God of War series exclusively made for the Playstation Portable and being developed by Ready At Dawn, the studio behind the fantastic Daxter for PSP.
It uses a proprietary engine that RAD developed for Daxter and looked fantastic then (still now), but what very few of us knew was that back then the engine was not fully optimized at the time and only working at 50% of its potential capability. This is astounding in and of itself and nearly unbelievable, but I think gameplay speaks for itself. The gameplay footage has a bit of framerate issues in places and frequent load times, but it is still a solid 6ish months away from release in November(tentative) so there is a good chance that as much of that as humanly possible can be tightened up before release.
Ready at Dawn says that they are doing their absolute best to deliver a true full console God of War experience on your PSP with God of War: Chains of Olympus. But if you want to hear more of what they have to say just watch the interviews down below in the more videos section.

probably ?
only about an hour left
Hmm I'll check this thing out in 40 minutes. Guess that maybe he saw shots that were leaked a day early.
GoW will never go cross platform.
Seriously... no offense, man, but knowing the difference between "first" and "Third" party is insanely important in this industry.
Yes, Sega released their games on Non-nintendo systems. Yes, Nintendo licensed their IP's out once upon a time. Yes, Microsoft releases games on the DS in lieu of their own handheld, and on the PC.
But these are rare. And these are not AAA blockbusters.
Why would they make another PS2 game this late in the life when it could be used to bolster the sale of the PS3? I thought GoWII was going to be remade for PS3 and canceled for the PS2.
I mean fuck, there's still dawn of mana or whatever and tomb raider anniversary, I'm not sure when it's really going to "die" per se.
It is a GTA ripoff.

i believe it's tied to your PC's clock somehow
it's 44 minutes for me
What if you manually change the clock?
same game, but now with an actual ending
::shrugs:: Comp has the same time as my cell and the rest of the clocks in my house. So since it's tied to that, who's time zone is it going off of?
Is this like the joke about the end of world coming at the millennium and everyone thinking god worked off their time zone?

It says "1 Days, 44 minutes"
I enjoyed it, especially once i put it into perspective that it was the ending of the second chapter in a trilogy. It has to have some kind of cliffhanger.

Nah. I liked the ending, and look forward to God of War 3. I really, really want to what they do with that hardware.
This PSP game will tide me over. I'm still hyped for Rondo of Blood and SOTN PSP, so this is welcome addition.
Currently playing: Infamous, Resident Evil 5
Need to play: Shadow Complex, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank: ACIT, MW2, Alpha Protocol
I'd have been fine with it if the game took more than three days to beat
I don't see how there can be any complaints about the length, even just hard mode took like 16 hours for me on the first try, and titan took me 20. A lot of that was just dying, but all the same, that's way, way more than I got out of the first game and not even a little bit of it felt dragged out or dull.
That's pretty much ideal length for this sort of game.
It retired the PS2 with style.
And yea, Titan mode was a bitch. Fucking Euryale.

The hardest parts in Titan weren't even bosses, though. Just enemy 'groups'.

This would be financial suicide. There just is not enough PS3's out there to justify a multi-million dollar game, unless you want to use it to draw customers in. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but God of War is not the type of game that will draw in new users by itself. It was a late-release on the PS2, after Sony had at least 4-5 internal IP's... And without bashing on the game too much (because I loved GoW), it just wouldn't justify the entry price. Then again, I don't think anything would for me at this point.
What's more.. when people are bashing Zelda and the Wii's lineup for being "OLOL GC 1.5," you sure as hell don't want a PS2 game up-converted to be your main event. That's why we were getting Heavenly Sword.
inner sanctum, translator, theseus part two...
though...actually, I beat the translator part on my first try in my most recent playthrough. I followed some technique I heard about first on gamefaqs I think that worked like a charm.
You sort of hang out in the back of the room for a while killing guys, bringing the summoner into the center eventually. You then kill the shit out of him without having to worry about abandoning the guy, not to mention you should have most of your magic left over to quake the second two summoners into oblivion.
GoW2 was more of the same, but the same was still glorious awesomeness. It was like someone gave you 20 dollars, and then they gave you another 20 dollars.
I also 'created' a sure fire way to beat the Inner Sanctum if you wanna know.

In the first Ares attacking the city was just for atmosphere...you could see him in the background and he would sort of ineffectually throw fireballs every once and a while to change the landscape, but in god of war II the giant that you're dealing with isn't just fucking up your surroundings but is genuinely out to get you.
Why would you buy the sequel first?
What sense does that make?
To be fair there are cases when it's good to skip the prequels. Like with DMC, I would recomend skipping to Part 3.
But Gow 1 and 2 are both quality games, so I say start with the first one.
And it's not like the metal gear games where with every new one the older entries feel sort of obsolete.
So they were putting a countdown on there counting down to when there would be 2 days left until the next countdown is over. Way to marketing, Sony.
