Co-operative - up to 4 players (max 2 on each xbox playing)

the rest support 4-player splitscreen:

Matchmaking - up to 16 players depending on the playlist
Forge - multi-user map editing. 8 players max.
Customs - make your own gametypes. 16 players total.
Theater - watch awesome replays. 4 players max.

When is DLC coming? What DLC do we know about?

There is no known date for DLC. However they have released some details on upcoming DLC, complete with placeholder map names (Bungie comments in italics):

I sometimes have an initially adverse reaction to symmetrical or semi-symmetrical map designs because I am not terribly smart and I sometimes have difficulty become oriented within those types of space. Invariably, I get used to it and learn to love them. This was just such a case, but when a new slew of architecture was added in the distance recently, it was enough for me to recognize which way was “up,” so to speak. Now I love it.
John Carpenter’s Prince of Dorkness
" At least two of the projected DLC maps however, are simply far too large for even the hair-trigger nature of SWAT to speed ‘em up. Both of them support lots of vehicles, but one of them, John Carpenter’s Prince of Dorkness, doesn’t need vehicles per se. It’s tough to explain. When you finally see it, you’ll understand.
O.K. Corral
One of those maps that isn’t ribbit-ing around just yet though, is O.K. Corral, an asymmetrical medium-sized map and O.K. Corral had its lighting tweaked considerably. The changes shifted the sun’s position shifted, giving the entire map a warm death-at-sunset feel. The sun’s rays stream through trees and into the blown out structure that often ends up at the very epicenter of combat (assuming you’ve procured some kind of close-quarters weapon). If you haven’t got anything short range, however, there’s a variety of multi-level open air catwalks, with glorious sight-lines down long semi-protected alleyways where you can rain death from above.
Vandelay
We hope that Vandelay will help folks use the Forge because of the variety and different types of tools players will have at their disposal. Doyle has been working tirelessly with Tyson Green on these objects and tools. Changing weapons and spawns inevitably affects balance and map flow, but the Legos that Doyle is talking about will let players create spaces for gameplay and give them the means of dictating where players will encounter their foes, in addition to what they will be holding when they get there. Again, like we were with the Forge in the first place, we’re pretty stoked to see what folks come up with when Vandelay releases into the wild.

So, in regards to this 'Vandelay' map. What do you think will be in it that will make it function like legos? When I first read that I though that it could be a warehouse with loads of crates like in The Storm. Then, using forge you can change where al the crates are and alter the flow of the map. Not to mention that you could 'push' the crates around with grenades and other explosives in the default layout, if they use it in mtchmaking or whatever.

But, you know, maybe not. Anybody else got any ideas?

I'm guessing it's just going to be a straight up FLAT map, and the object pallets will consist of walls and possible terrain modification-like objects. By this I don't mean things that will actually modify the terrain, but like one object woudl be "mound of dirt - small" which... pretty much explains itself. Or "short wall -long" or "tall wall - long" and you could pretty much make your own levels however you wanted.

I'm totally late with this, but I just have to say how much I love grunt birthday party... me and a friend finally got un-lazy and went around getting skulls, and we then proceeded to spend at LEAST an hour looking for grunts to headshot just so we could both shout out "yaaaaaaaaaaay"

I just finished that entire Tsavo Highway scene -- you know the one -- on Heroic, with pretty much all the skulls on (everythig except Iron and Black Eye) -- so, Legendary, really.

Well... almost finished it. Took out every single damn brute. Every single damn grunt. Including the Fuel Rod Cannon dude, and all the Jetpack ones. Except apparently I missed one. One little grunt. And out he pops from behind a concrete barrier, two grenades lit in each hand, and.. well.. you know the rest of the story.

20 minutes of work... gone.

I will never again, ever, trivialize a single grunt. Jesus fucking h christ hell dammit.

I think everyone who plays legendary (or heroic with a bunch of skulls apparently) solo has this exact experience. At least it certainly happened to me.

I picked up the new book last night, before work. I read it during my two breaks and while I waited for my ride. I'm on pg. 130 and want explanations as to why there are hornets! This is the first time rampancy has ever been acknowledged so I'm kind of hoping that there's a line in the book that's like:

"and the ONI spook introduced the AI for this warship... Durandal."

but I doubt it will happen. I really want to get to the big twist! Why is there a Battle Rifle on the cover? I read in the last thread that Joe explained it beautifully.

I was going to make a post about TEAM NORTH AMERICA with some awesome screenies, but oh well.
Anyway, me and one friend always play together (On the same screen too), and we always say GO TEAM AMERICA when we win, because it's annoying and yet somehow still funny.
In any case, we ran into some other dudes and formed TEAM NORTH AMERICA since they were Canadian, and we played like, 12 games and won them all FLAWLESSLY!
It was epic. My favorite one was Assualt on Valhalla, we creamed those guys so good.
I'm thinking or starting a clan called TEAM NORTH AMERICA, mostly for ranked team games, but could be for other stuff.
Anyone interested?
