Anyone else listen to BJ Shea this morning and hear him trying to patch up some old ties between him and Gabe? I listen to KISW religiously and look forward to seeing BJ around the Magic tables. BJ offering his appology on air was an awesome gesture. I think Gabe or PA should call into the show and start anew. Free pub is always good.
Apparently it all happened a few years ago back when BJ was on the BUZZ and Gabe was calling in for an on air interview for PA. I guess he ended up being late for his scheduled interview time and when he called in BJ blew up on him and they got into a huge argument. People being late for on air interviews is a huge pet peve for BJ. Since then there has been a large amount of animosity between BJ and PA. But now BJ has offered his appology and wishes to put it all behind them and start over. He wants Gabe to call in to talk about PAX.

I listen to KISW daily, yet usually wake up too late to listen to BJ, so I missed that. DAMNIT! Honestly though, BJ yells at everybody for the stupidest things, but that's what makes it funny I guess. Do you think Gabe will actually call in?
BTW what did I miss, did he say anything important? :P

I listen to BJ religiously, and I really would like to see him at the show. He's a huge fucking nerd like the rest of us, and he's really entertaining to listen to. I hope this all works out, as BJ does end up talking about PAX on the radio every year, and they usually send somebody to cover the show floor and call in to let them know what's up.
If it hasn't been said already, their show is on 99.9 in Seattle from 6am to 10am.
Ef'en awesome! I look foward to tuning in to this as well. FYI: BJ stated he is planning on attending and playing some Magic!! Probably bring the prodigy along with him, maybe the Rev too.

Well there's some more people im gonna have to hunt down then
That's awesome, you'll have to let us know when so we can tune in!
and I dunno about BJ, but the Rev is a WoW player right? He might feel at home with us. lulz :P
BJ is a huge gamer. He mostly sticks to his Xbox 360, but his son makes sure he is on the latest and greatest games.
He's also a huge Sci-Fi geek. He ALWAYS talks about Dr. Who, Battlestar Gallactica, Firefly, Stargate, etc. etc.
Yeah that sounds right. Like I said, I rarely get to listen to them, but I listen to the Men's Room a lot. Maybe I mistook the Rev for Ben? If so he should totally be there too.
The Rev plays WOW, if I recall. He's their call screener on BJ. He doesn't talk a ton - usually only when BJ gets pissed at him, then he will defend himself.
BTW: Last year when PAX came around, BJ stated he wanted to bury the hatchet with Mike. It just didn't end up happening, cuase that was like the day before PAX.
the Reverend In Fuego (a.k.a. the Rev)= BJ's lead call screener for his show
Isn't it En Fuego? That would be more Spanish...

I know the Rev is the screener for BJ and doesn't talk much, just like how Ben is the screener on the Men's Room and also doesn't talk a whole lot. So I may have gotten them mixed up, although I'm pretty sure it is the Rev who plays WoW, I remember him talking about it one day and the others were like wow, WTF?

I'm not sure that would have been the reaction. I know BJ knows what WOW is, cause the prodigy plays it (or used to). I'm pretty sure Steve the Producer at one point played it. There are a lot of people on this show, we might be confusing the onlookers now. I guess at least it isn't Ricker's show. I still don't even understand what is going on with that!

well it wasn't all "WTF," it's just that he got into detail, and... well, yeah. I don't recall anyway, so, moving on!
GABE! You got to let us know when you're calling/going on!
BJ was lookin to do the Olive Branch thing a few weeks ago, too. I had heard it and thought it was actually surprising that BJ was willing to apologize and bury the hatchet considering the way he be.
If Gabe is willing to bury the hatchet, good for him and good for PA.
I was lucky enough to be backstage for Pain in the Grass on Sat. and I met most of the KISW personalities. BJ was by far the most approachable and even signed some stuff for my wife who couldn't make it. We're looking forward to seeing him at PAX, just wondering what day/s he will be there.
I too was at Pain in the Grass, but actually in the grass. Way, way, way, way in the back! Still a good time.
That sounds like a pain. How was Shinedown? Shinedown and Seether were the only bands I cared about on the ticket, so I just didn't feel like going. Whilst I think QR is ok, and the thought of them with an orchestra is even better, it just didn't excite me enough.
Both Shinedown and Seether were SICK! I took pictures/autographs with both bands. Shinedowns singer came into the crowd for one song and was 2 feet from me at one point. I used to like QR in the 80's (like empire album) but didn't care for them live.
Worst statement uttered at a concert "We're gonna play some of our new stuff for ya now"
I'm glad he finally decided to bury the hatchet. I've listened to him occasionally for years, and while there were definitely moments in the show that used to make me cringe (all his sucking up to Tom Leykis comes to mind) it always seemed like he was a pretty decent dude. He seemed funny, geeky and was sort of an "everyman", as opposed to many of the other Seattle talk DJs who seem like they're constantly trying to project an image of "awesome". His angle seemed to be complaining a lot, and it worked for him.
That was until the day he decided to throw a tantrum instead of helping to talking to the guys about the Child's Play dinner. That was probably the lowest moment in the history of his show for me. I go to the Childs Play Auction each year, and I've never been witness to more charitable people, so to hear him rip on the whole thing and gamers in general was just....an instant disqualifier. I stopped listening regularly after that, and eventually the only time I'd tune in was to avoid commercials on the other stations. These days, I have Sirius, so I don't listen to local radio much anymore anyway.
It's nice to hear he finally came around. If I hear there's a PAX Interview, I'll definitely tune in this week and listen to what he has to say.

bj has a reasonably interesting show. i haven't listened to it in a while. i just get so irritated with commercials that i find it hard to listen to radio.
a lot of people describe him as sorta like tom leykis. i can hear the resemblance. but bj is married

Officially THE worst DJ in Seattle. He even makes those little kids on C89.5 sound good by comparison, and they're still in high school....so they're learning to get better, whereas he's probably always going to be like that.

Ricker is...at best, odd. However, he does amuse me.
I just re-read the posts that Gabe made and I vaguely remember that whole thing happening. I also remember a few times over the past few years that he's mentioned Penny Arcade and has brought up the situation. At one point he even mentioned that he was a total d-bag about the whole situation.
I like BJ ok, but his whole show occasionally gets on my nerves.
So this morning BJ mentioned PAX telling people to go, but still no mention of an interview. When will it be? I stream the show on PC at work so I won't miss it. Only two days left.

Yeah I was just listening to the last hour and I heard him mention PAX, and Gabe, but nothing else...

BJ is married, and commonly says he was a virgin until he got married, and was the biggest geek ever (D&D, Star Wars, Dr. Who, gaming). He doesn't try and hide it, however, he does speak a lot about relationships because he's learned so much about the female psyche over his years of marriage.
I find him easy to listen to until he gets pissed and starts yelling. He's from Boston, though, and matches the persona of anyone I've ever met from Boston almost exactly.

I've heard BJ once or twice, I'm never really near a radio when he's on. Do they do archives/podcasts?
Good to see two guys making up.

Man, that site IS terrible, though.
yeah they do podcasts, just hit up their website, i'm too lazy to look right now. :P

After reading this and having listened to BJ frequently I can understand both sides. Again it is cool that appologies are being given and taken.
Also key to note that BJ said he will donate $1,000 to Child's Play.
I always wondered what happened.

dude those posts are epic, I can't wait to actually hear them on the radio again.

I'm sure the con will manage to be successful even without the 32 folks who would only go if BJ told them to showing up.
