So now Nigeria needs to beat Korea by 2 goals (and a Greek loss)

I think as long as Greece loses and Nigeria wins they take it, yeah?

Yeah. That would bring up a 9-3-3-3 final group score and a three-way tie for the second qualifying spot. The next tiebreaker after points is goal difference, and right now that's -1 South Korea, -1 Greece, and -2 Nigeria. A Greek loss brings their difference down to -2 or lower, and a Nigerian win brings their difference to -1 or above while simultaneously bringing South Korea's to -2 or below, putting Nigeria into the round of 16.

If Nigeria wins and Greece wins (or ties), Greece gets in with 6 (or 4) points to Nigeria's 3. If Nigeria doesn't win, they're stuck at 0 or 1 and finish last.

Yeah I forgot that since they play eachother a 1 goal win is worth double in terms of differential.

The goalie should have obviously been given flowers and been crowned Mrs. World Cup. But all the ref had on him was a red card. What's a brother to do?!

So what? He still fucking kicked at him as well as raised his hands to him. There was definite intent to hurt the player.

So what? the Greece player shoved the ball in his chest and pushed him back. I'm pretty sure if a soccer player wants to kick you he can. It was certainly stupid to even make the motion, but the acting like that when you don't even get hit is just, ugh.

    Oh, since when?

more of a comment on their ability, not that it's within the rules.

no need to be a silly goose about it. I disagree that a unconnected kick with a lot play acting rolling around like it's the end of the world deserves a red card. I think he deserved a yellow, for even looking like he was going to do that, but the Greece player rolling around in the background for 20 seconds and then getting up and walking off lifting his shorts to show absolutely no mark... yeah, it's ridiculous to be put down a player for that.

Yup. The laws of the game explicitly mention violent conduct as meriting a sending-off.

Not to mention the couple other types of misconduct that kicking/push qualified as.

    That depends.

Does a lot of dirty play and some of the worst acting you'll see outside of an Italy match qualify as a "good game" for you?

Is that France or both of them? I've noticed a lot of hate for France on here, but haven't heard much about Mexico.

I guess if they are both dirty, it could be interesting to see who does a better job at it.

In my experience, Mexico is dirtier, and France is divier.

But they both do both to excess.

To be fair to Mexico they have some young guys are very very exciting to watch.

The old hacks like Marquez and Blanco can fuck right off though. Sadly I think I want Mexico to win though, my desire for a good CONCACAF showing is just enough to mute my Mexico hatred to the point where my hatred of France wins out.

Also for whatever reason Mexico plays less dirty against Euro or South American teams.

It's only against the U.S. that stuff like Marquez doing a flying studs up kick into Cobi Jones's hamstring and following through with a deliberate elbow to the head happens.

I knew when kickoff was, but the listings on ESPN3.com didn't show it, even under "upcoming", despite showing tomorrow's matches.

All is well now, though. Coverage is listed.

The English expat pub at which I watch all my football also broadcasts other sports on occasion.

A month or two ago, they showed the France v Ireland rugby match. On the listings page it said:

French allowed to use their hands in this one!

as a mad german im gonna be the wet blanket that so many were for our performance against australia

    - first goal was a pathetic own goal
    - second goal was shit goaltending
    - third goal higuain was clearly offsides

see how do you like it argentines

but really though its sad the two most impressive teams in this tournament are going to meet in the quarterfinals. england's quarter of the bracket is going to be such a joke if they win their group.

hoping for a repeat of the 2006 germany vs argentina game
but both teams are much better than they were back then..
