MM, you might have a community arts center in your town, and they often have ceramics/pottery programs. they'll either have classes or charge you for studio time, and sometimes they'll sell you clay. if not, you can go in with others on bulk clay bodies (it's fairly affordable for one person, but you don't want it to dry out and go to waste.) same deal with supply stores. apparently museums also offer art classes, but i haven't pursued that. considering how satisfying it is to art, it can be surprisingly cheap if you look in the right places.
i am working on one of these for my dad, in orange and blue. as a Christmas present. and i've never tried stranded (aka Fair Isle) knitting before. wheeeeee! on the upside, it's one of two presents i have left to make, so i should be set.

i was taking a ceramics class at my community college. i wonder if my professor would let me use the kiln if i'm not a student... of course i could just come back for that one ceramics class and nothing else next semester. i think the registration deadline is almost up...
i bought some yarn (and pattern mags) at sweet post-Christmas discounts, but i'm really here to brag that my sister had her baby, a week and a day after her due date. hooray! i'll get to see her and meet my niece in about a week.
Got an idea about the bleach shirts. I'm going to use some of my Christmas money to buy a shitload of black t-shirts wholesale, line them up down the street, do a running pour on all of them, then slowly donate all the shirts to the local thrift stores and see how many hipsters I spot wearing them.

foam rubber is really cheap, easy to carve, light and tough.
harder to paint, but you can work something out.
That might be something to check out. If I did use it, I'm sure I could just gesso over the top and then spray paint that. Wouldn't be too hard to make it look smooth.
I just started getting in to papercraft recently, but I've already given a fair few of them away as Christmas gifts. Here's what I still have, pretty much all of them are botched in one way or another.
My fiance likes rubber ducks, and lately we'd been talking about which mr men/little miss character we are closest to. So I used some warhammer paints to make these for christmas:
I'm pretty terrible with the black lines, not used to painting thin lines. But the paint went on pretty well!
edit: also drew/painted her this, which just goes to prove I need serious practice with watercolours.
I printed them at work to save on colour ink, so regular printer paper I guess? Although It seems like it's a bit glossier than the regular kind. I couldn't tell you what printer it is either.
I've never done one before and just wanted to get a feel and see if enough people were interested!

OH SHIT
I forgot to post my robot head!
So I went to a masquerade ball for new years, and I wanted a mask that was... unique. So a buddy and I got together and designed and built ourselves a couple of robot heads out of cardboard and paper.
they turned out pretty amazingly.
My buddy's is raw card and mine's painted with spray paint. Glasses are removable and have real lenses. hair/beard/sideburns is photocopied black paper. About 8 hours work for both.

one time I hollowed out the laser sight thing on the nitefinder and stuck a secret shot in it and it was awesome

Has anyone worked with either? Any tips on what I should use?
I considered making liquid plastic using acetone and styrofoam, but I don't want to risk dying.

Do painted wh40k figurines count? If so, I'd totally be down for this.
