I don't think the last few weeks of updates have been a waste. It shows a lot about Terezi's character, how she didn't think she could kill someone but she did it to save everyone, and it shows how her seer of mind ability sort of works.
She could've just killed Vriska when her back was turned, but instead she carefully considered the other option first and then realized what she had to do.
In these trying times, it is important for us to remember a very important life lesson.
"So don't change the dizzle, turn it up a little
I got a living room full of fine dime brizzles
Waiting on the Pizzle, the Dizzle and the Shizzle
G's to the bizzack, now ladies here we gizzo
When the pimp's in the crib ma
Drop it like it's hot
Drop it like it's hot
Drop it like it's hot..."
She could've just killed Vriska when her back was turned, but instead she carefully considered the other option first and then realized what she had to do.
Yeah she could have just made the bitch move.
But instead she took all her options into consideration, and THEN made the bitch move.

A few thoughts:
I think this is one of those few arcs that reads better live, so to speak. The number of days passing since we saw Terezi's and Karkat's corpses until tonight really helped sucker us into the failed time line. Someone reading through the archives will still likely be in "wait, what?" mode by the time the deception is revealed.
Don't know for sure if this is it for Vriska or not, I hope not. But it seems like this long tangent into the world of whatif served to add a lot of weight to Terezi's decision here and as such it feels like there needs to be major consequences, such as the death of a major character.
You really can't use "we haven't seen this conversation yet" as a justification for a character still being alive. We're most likely not going to see every conversation.
Then again, that's the one where she threatens to kill john so maybe it's important enough to bother with.

Its a chekhovs gun imo, there is no reason to show it there unless its going to be revisited, personally though I suspect Gamzee got Vriska's computer or something. Hard to see Vriska threatening John, particularly at that point in time.

You guys are all awful at this, bee-tee-dubs.
Okay, so we know Rose had a dreamself to spare, but still. I'll take it as reassurance.
a true legislacerator?
(i have always loved that particular portmanteau)
That's because you are the Worst MSPA Fan Ever.
I like Can Town Adventures,

Well I don't think I could argue with that.
I think
I think I prefer my way
You don't even think John is the best kid!
Why we tolerate you in this fan community is something I will never understand.
I'm surprised no one has made any fanarts of it yet
(oh of course he isn't dead)
like... it's not that Vriska is probably dead or anything.
I just kinda wish these 3 weeks had been spent on something a bit more constructive than a fakeout.

nooooooot just a fakeout
Vriska will continue to mentor John from within her collapsing timeline
maybe she'll even escape it, in the end
so it's a way to keep everyone alive (in a manner) and less fucked
We just witnessed both possible outcomes of Terezi's coin toss.
Frankly, we should have known it was a fakeout the moment a coinflip was revealed to be the deciding factor of what was going to happen next.
I am talking about the alive Vriska
in the other timeline
not the one who is dead
Rules were made to be broken.

Can Town Adventures are a magical thing. The last time I had one I saw a unicorn riding a phoenix.

Slick's
dreamself?

it'll turn out we were actually reading bard quest all along
Too tired to speculate.
Posting on autopilot right now.
Terezi continues to be awesome.

She actually had already forseen what Vriska would do if she went to fight Jack: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=005612

The result of the coin toss was a constant across all timelines.

Faint hope for Vriska fans:
Still haven't seen this convo: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=004606
Karkat's memo implied that Vriska would make it to right before the scratch.
But both of these are pretty flimsy, ultimately we'll see.
Then again, that's the one where she threatens to kill john so maybe it's important enough to bother with.
