Thinking about nautical stars on my wrists, but they'd have to be pretty small to be tasteful
And I still want a gigantic octopus on my left shoulderblade, but not sure who I'd want to do it since it would need to look similar to the anemone/fishes on my right
Can't you get the same girl to do it??
She's in NYC and I'm in Seattle so unless she's on the west coast for a convention prob not

Well since this thread was summoned via flutedagger anyways; I'm getting new ink in November!
Knew that Shawn was coming back into town in the fall, and when he gave me specifics I decided that I was going to scrounge up the money and get a tat, even a small one. Well, it's going to be a small one, but I don't care. Decided that I've loved poison-dart frogs long enough that I should finally have one of my own forever and ever, so it'll be something small (bigger than life size though because those buggers are tiny and of undecided placement. Something like this:
One idea that was tossed around on TinyChat was to get it on my hips. Now, I have an okay defined stomach, but I figure, if I work at it 'til November, I can get back that V I used to have, and then I'd be happy with it. Now, am I likely to loose that V down the road? Is this a prime stretching spot? Yes and yes, hence it being a small tattoo and also me not totally caring. But my other options I'm thinking are the shoulder or calf.
awesome. Saw a buynch of poison dart frogs at the Academy of Sciences yesterday.
@Sweeney Tom It is hardddd to get portraits/people to look right in a tattoo, though.
Jealous. Did you go to the Science After Dark or whatever they call it? I so want to to go next time I'm in Cali.
Also, you can totally see why I couldn't get them done life size!
My brother's brother-in-law has been talking again about getting the elephant I designed for him done. I was playing with color on the rough to see how it would look. I was thinking it would look best either monochromatic or with the plants/water/clouds tinted in green and blue:

For things like that, I always can't help but feel that I'd rather wait til I can get the best artist, even if they're far away/more expensive, because it'll be worth it and with me forever and I don't wanna ever think, man, i really should have just flown to <artist>....
which is why i havent gotten any ink yet bluh
too picky
This is pretty much the final artwork for the elephant tattoo... I think. It's been a bit tricky getting feedback from the guy I'm doing it for. It's basically a favor so he feels bad asking for changes but I definitely don't want him getting a tattoo he isn't 100% happy with. I don't need that on my conscience.
I'll be curious to see how this works out on skin, you gotta post pics
Yeah, this is part of the reason why I'm hesitant to design tattoos for people: I'm not a tattoo artist. If it was just something simple, black and white, I wouldn't be too worried but even then, I'd be inclined to find an artist who can create the design on their own instead of just counting on them to try and copy it onto my skin.

It's a pity it's not called the heart of darkness, really. Then I could like turn around, bend forward and yell THE HORROR THE HORROR
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better

Sorry, that's Seaspray's twist on the motto.

Why don't you find a good artist in your town and take it to him or her and explain what you want to be different about it
That is exactly what I'm afraid of people thinking
It's a reference to psalm 127
And if I do set my mind to getting it, I'll have to find an artist to put something together for me
Just pick something I've already drawn. How about a Christmasaurus Rex tattoo?
You got any predrawn owls?
Nice. @melting_doll drew an owl years ago that I loved. I wonder if she still has it somewhere.
That bird isn't basically exactly what I wanted my owl tattoo to look like, except for it isn't an owl.
I would get that tattoo though.
You are an amazing artist.
