I even did a few rage face comics and put them in my blog because I used to find them funny. But I wouldn't use them for an official update, even then.

I've spent years on 4chan. Seen a lot of memes. Still not quite sure what the deal with the ragecomic art set is aside from it being versatile.

maybe it's just because i've been reading about copyright philosophy for the past few weeks but i bet proponents of collaborative creativity theories would put memes in the same category as things like jazz, blues, rap/sampling, magic, culinary arts, fashion, etc. because they're all based on processes of copying, mixing, and remixing to produce personal expression

if the category is that broad, wouldn't it include basically every artform?

it's more than just being influenced the way all art is
it's like, direct copying and reusing
a counter example would be stand-up comedy where even a little bit of similarity between jokes is frowned upon

I'm not sure if my problems with rage faces is actually about the reuse of artwork or format, since dinosaur comics is completely structured around that
it's mainly that the stories in them aren't particularly interesting to begin with, the format encourages pretty short captions, and the situations are usually the fairly mundane experiences of the author
so the entire thing relies on the humor value of the artwork to make a punchline
but that stopped amusing me after the first time I saw it
There's probably a whole pocket of internet users now who will relate basic facial expression techniques to rageface comics as if the latter were first.
Edit: Sometimes I get comments about it. "Oh you drew a me gusta face!!" NAW I DIN'T.
Marmaduke is barking at the decades-old portable black and white television his fat, elderly neighbor is watching while reclining in the back yard. The World Health Organization recently estimated that malaria kills roughly 2,800 children each day worldwide. The sound Marmaduke makes when he barks today is "RRHHOOF!"

My "creative process", as it were, is a very simple flowchart:
it's more than just being influenced the way all art is
it's like, direct copying and reusing
a counter example would be stand-up comedy where even a little bit of similarity between jokes is frowned upon

you can pin it on the writing all you want, but when the concept of the joke is HEY LOOK AT THIS OVERLY DETAILED FACE ON A STICK FIGURE well
no shit it's not gonna be any good
drives me nuts
people use it on Facebook all the time
Are you using special effects to extensively tell a story, or are you using a story to extensively tell special effects?

aside from the fact the countries have expressions I don't think this has much to do with rage comics
First new one I clicked
