[D&D 4E PbP] Into the Shadowhaunt - OOC

edited May 2013 in Critical Failures
This adventure will start with our heroes-in-the-making in the hamlet of Longsaddle. In fact, the majority of the campaign will utilize the Forgotten Realms setting. The local silversmith, Quinn Stasi, is distraught and seeking assistance: his two sons are missing, and he believes them to be kidnapped. Daras and Byron went missing three days ago. Quinn is a widower, and his two sons are the most important things in his life. He immediately set his mind and money on finding them.
After the rather inept local constabulary seemed unable to help, Quinn bought a hand of fate ritual casting from the local temple of Erathis, the goddess of cities and law. Through some carefully worded questions, the silversmith found that his sons were still alive and in the direction of the Shadowhaunt Mausoleum, located just outside of Longsaddle. However, he is but a silversmith and unable (and unwilling) to search the mausoleum himself. He has gladly hired [the name of the adventuring party] to assist.

Everyone is starting at Level 1, and the adventures are going on until you all hate me or until I hate you.
I request a post per day if it's your turn, especially in combat since we have 6 players. Gotta keep it moving so it doesn't stagnate.

Recruiting is currently closed!

Let's organize who's playing what, shall we?

@Melding as Jansys Thanns, Half Elf Sorcerer (Striker)
@Gatsby as Kaz-iel, Genasi Mage (Controller)
@Sassori as Sassori, Tiefling Bard (Leader)
@ThatDudeOverThere as Tyn Wulf, Half-Orc Slayer (Striker)
@Rainfall as Ampeia, Hamadryad Warden (Defender)
@Langly as Jorges Moorges, Minotaur Cleric (Leader)

Character sheets should be posted on Orokos or Myth-weavers, and dice rolls should be done on either Orokos or Invisible Castle.

Make it happen!

Well in terms of characters the two main ones I'm fond of are my bugbear barbarian, and my wilden druid.

I'm fine playing either a striker or controller, I just need to figure out a way to introduce the existence of a wilden in this setting.

while I have all of the 4ed materials, and have run a 4ed one shot before, I am actually not really at all familiar with the class archtypes because it's literally been years since I have done any of that.

so i'll do whatever, I guess is what I mean.

Also how to PbP handle maps and positioning and stuff?

I will post grid maps with coordinates read across then down, you post your move action like MOVE: (8,6) to (10,6)

I'm going to be lazy and use the same character I'm using for OL's games.

    Tiefling Bard

Like I said in the SE thread, I enjoy being a Defender, and it doesn't look like anyone else is jumping on that. I'm thinking Swordmage, I'll have to flip through and pick out what I want for a race, though.

It's either that or I take a Striker slot as a Revenant(ex-Changeling) Assassin, because I miss that character, but I think other people want to be Strikers more than I do.

What, not a Warforged Cleric with a grandiloquent name that only ever gets referred to as 'healbot'?

  • Options
    LanglyLangly Registered User regular
no, just a healing minotaur who never leaves the house without a bit of chalk and a book of riddle answers.

Alright, so we have Sassori and Langly for leaders. So go with one of the two leader comps I mentioned in the OP or something.

I think Langly is more leader-y than I am.

    He's taller.

You chose to keep the bard. Bards are leaders.

is there a way to do flaws in 4ed? I would really like to make him blind but I don't know if i can

I do not believe so. Also, eyes are pretty important for spotting traps and such!

Please collaborate and devise a name for your adventuring group. We'll work on how you all came together later.

Crazy Ed's Recovery Service. Ed has been dead for years but his son Ed Jr. keeps up the place in his stead.

Who the hell is Ed Jr?

  • Options
    LanglyLangly Registered User regular
Ed Jr. is not as crazy as his father was although he does employ an aging Minotaur who won't shut up about mazes, so the heritage isn't completely lost.

Basically i think that our group should be run like a Repo company. "Ancient" tombs and things rent out relics in order to be popular with adventurers, thus bringing in tourism and also a steady stream of people to kill.

but if they don't keep up payments for the objects we get sent in by the owners to reclaim them.

I mean, won't you please think of the children?

    Yes.
how do I mke a character sheet to upload to orokos?

I've only ever fed it files that were exported from the character builder, to be honest.
E: Yeah, it seems to only accept .dnd4e files, which is what the WotC character builder makes.
