No my job's firewall sucks. Actually the new one is better than the old one. Old one blocked forums.

It's basically talking about how beneficial it would be for the Patriots to trade Brady to the Texans for Andre Johnson

  • Options

Are we sure that Greg Garber isn't Joe Philbin's pen name?

I can see Brady getting traded/cut at some point in the next two years, but it sure as hell ain't happening in the middle of a winning season for freaking Andre Johnson.

  • Options
    JoshmviiJoshmvii Registered User regular
The trade they describe is Johnson plus the Texans 2015 1st rounder for Brady. Still not a remote possibility, but yeah.

  • Options

It seems like it'd be more likely to get every ounce of mentorship they can out of him, then either trade him or take the extra 1st round pick for him. Patriots definitely have the cap space to do it too. At least for now.

I can see Johnson in NE if the Texans keep losing. He's already publicly asked to be traded and hates the Texans.

Not for Brady of course, that's stupid.

IMO Andre Johnson doesn't have much trade value. He's a quality receiver, but you're talking about a guy who hasn't cracked 5 TDs in a season since 2010 and is 33 years old.

to be fair, it's hard to catch passes for touchdowns when matt schaub is busy throwing them to the other team

Eh, in 2011 and 2012 Schaub had perfectly fine seasons, 90+ QB ratings though his 2011 season was cut a bit short. And Johnson was fairly pedestrian those years too. Plenty of receivers have put up better numbers with way worse QBs than Schaub throwing them the ball.

Andre Johnson is a slightly better at scoring touchdowns Keyshawn Johnson IMO. If you feed him the ball he can get you 100+ catches and 1300 yards in a season, but he doesn't score enough TDs to be considered one of the best wideouts, especially not at age 33.

I agree he's no longer elite, but touch down totals don't make or break a player's elite status.

Um let's not forget the beating he gave Cortland Finnegan. Andre is the top receiver in my heart

I agree that Johnson was elite from 08 to '10. He put up some 1500+ yard seasons that not a lot of guys can do. I'm only really speaking in the context of Andre Johnson now in the discussion of him+1st rounder for Tom Brady imaginary trade.

Also, Johnson most definitely gets good guy points for punching Finnegan.

Or my favorite take on that historic event: Cortland Innegan, because Johnson beat the F out of him.

Another dumb thing got posted about how the Eagles should trade Shady to the Raiders for their first round pick so that Chip could get the kind of QB that he wants. I can see the logic, sort of, except that you have a proven commodity in Shady and there's no guarantee about a draft pick and that would be horrible and stupid so good day to you sir.

Nah. Saints went 8-8 that year and finished last in NFC South. Admittedly that shows it was a killer year for the NFC South, but still a sign the team wasn't great.
