The censoring irks me a little, but removing the audio from the punishment system at least will get fewer strange looks from my wife. I couldn't play Monster Monpiece in the same room with her out of embarassment :P

Of that list of games posted last page, FFX / X2 and Freedom Wars are all great. Especially if you never played FFX/ X2 back in the day, or you did and really enjoyed them like I did.

Yep never played them so that's why I am interested. I know they announced an HD remake for PS4 next year but this might play better on a portable format.
Because we can never have enough Neptunia in our lives, Hyperdimension Neptunia U, the beat-em-up spinoff developed by the Senran Kagura people, is being localized as well. Playables are all the CPUs, the CPU candidates, Dengeki, & Famitsu.

Moans and voiceovers in punishment minigames removed. More fog added to some of the CG art.

Going all Digital on the Vita is hard on the wallet. I keep seeing all of these price drops on physical copies of games and I look at the PSN store and nope... still usual price. I hate having to switch cards for games, espicially on a portable device. I like only having to care about bringing the console and not the XXX number of cards just in case I want to play that game. Wish there was a way to "install" a game once you own the physical copy.
Lateast /vg/ image to compare/contrast with our own recomendations.
I feel I should note why the ports of WO3, SW4, and the origional DW: Next are recommended but not the port of DW:8. The Vita port of DW:8, unlike the other games, has massive slowdown and framerate issues that has not been fixed by any of the patch(es).

But the Vita has no games! hurrr.
It doesn't! It has magical little bubbles of pure joy and delight. They can no longer be called just "games" anymore. It's like virtual M&Ms, and they taste DELICIOUS.

Same dude, I hate having to switch stuff around but sometimes I really dig collectors stuff. I just keep all of my DS/3DS and Vita stuff together.
So I'm thinking of picking up Hyperdemsion Neptunia, Demon Gaze, or P4G along with Akiba's Trip at some point in the next week or two. I'm not really big on these kind of RPGs but I want to give them another try so which would probably be the most fun to check out? I know P4G always gets high recommendations but I was wondering about the other two as well.

P4G is the obvious choice, but if you're looking for an alternative, I'd put my vote in for Demon Gaze. It's great! (And there's nothing wrong with Re;Birth1 either, but Demon Gaze is very approachable for someone not deep into gridders.)

Persona 4 Golden is probably the safest best for wide-market appeal. It's been well loved by many a 'not really a JRPG fan'. It has a long intro hurdle of a few hours of text that the uninitiated have to get over, but those that get their hooks into it never seem to let go.
Neptuna is great if you're a huge gaming geek, because all the reference jokes will slay you. But the cuteness of the style seems to turn off people that prefer all their games to be realistic or non-silly. You should know your own tastes and tolerances. Still, expect a solid battle system and lots of laughs.
Demon Gaze is next to Etrian Odyssey 4/Untold as one of the easiest and user friendly Dungeon Crawlers to get into. Demon Gaze is a clear evolution on the Wizardry style of games, and while it has it's own tacked on, streamlined, and great mechanics, it's clear that it's descended from them while the EO series has offshoot to be slightly more a unique entity in the genre. One really nice thing about DG is just how much pure customization you have through Artifacts (the game's cross-class/passive skill system). It's worth trying if you're interested in the genre.
Dear PSN Santa, for your last week of Sales (I'm a bit early but want to be sure in case you need time to prepare), I would like to see the following games on sales for my new Vita:
Disgaea 4
Freedom Wars
Final fantasy X/X2 HD
Rogue Legacy
Little Big Planet Vita
Demon Gaze
Super Stardust Delta
If none of these games goes on sale, I will take it you don't want me to spend money.
thanks,
Disgaea 4 or FF X/X2 are probably going to get you the most play time. Which of those two you go with really depends on if you like SRPGs or traditional JRPGs more. LBP is a good time waster, more fun co-op. I prefer Freedom Wars as Co-op as well but admittedly haven't played much of it. Demon Gaze was really fun, my husband was embarrassed to play it in public because he was afraid people looking over his shoulder would think he was watching weird Japanese porn. He still played it in public because it was really fun.
I'd also watch out for Sorcery Saga Curse of the Curry God if you don't own it. Fun little rogue like. Hilarious dialog... maybe. It has a magnificent curry aura.

When I played them back to back for the first time a few years ago, it was Jak 2 that I skipped. Way too difficult. And with a needlessly, hilariously dark story.
I've learned my tolerance for bullshit has reached an all time low in video games. In J&D1 a lot of the random things they throw out at you are just frustrating and unfun.
For example: The fishing game. That almost made me quit. The part that made me quit was driving the air motorcycle over the lava. After having to retry after about the 8th time I figured I wasn't having any fun with the game and shouldn't be wasting my time with something that wasn't fun.
I will say that the music was real good. I miss music in video games.

Well Budy, PG4 is indeed fun. It's the only game I bought so far on my Vita and I bought it with the system. I enjoy it a lot but only have 15 hours in. I used to be big on JRPG but at some point stop playing them. I'm loving them again thanks to the Vita and P4G is great so far. Makes me look forward to P5.

Well, to be fair J&D, R&C, and Sly all came out about the same time on the PS2, and J&D was the only one that really didn't have its own identity. And it shows with how much it changes its own genre, whereas R&C and Sly stayed the same and only improved what they started.
I consider J&D as the one of three siblings that didn't quite find their calling, but isn't a bad person for lack of success. It just never quite decided what it wanted to be.
So I'm after Christmas, just beat Adachi (totally called he was the real culprit), but something still isn't clear to me.
So Adachi originally killed the TV reporter and Saki, then says he let the delivery guy throw the others into the TV when they showed up on the Midnight Channel thinking he was saving them. And apparently people show up on the midnight channel BEFORE being thrown into the TV, which allowed the delivery guy to attempt to warn Saki, and throw the rest into the TV before Adachi could get to them.
Does the game say exactly what makes people show up on the midnight channel in the first place? Is it just a psychic prediction that somebody is about to be in mortal peril via the TV?
If the game actually does explain this in January or later, feel free to just say that.

There's more. Keep going.
Yep, keep reaching out to the truth, even if you think you're done. You're really not done.
Finished Gravity Rush. That's a really good game! Man, I'm glad I gave it a second chance. The story is pretty bonkers, and clearly needs more time to develop into something cohesive, but it's just so fun to fly/fall around the city. And the game gets so much more fun with a bunch of upgrades, since you can maintain gravity shift for minutes instead of seconds. A few of those challenge missions are really hard, which is probably going to prevent me from getting a platinum, but oh well.
I'm like 2 years late, but if you haven't played it, give it a shot!
