Man, Collider ought to be ashamed of themselves for this interview.
Collider: For some reason people seem to think your movie has issues. I think it’s because you have yet to reveal images and footage. So can you guys put to bed the notion that the movie has issues?
JOSH TRANK: I think a lot of that stuff is stemming from the fact that we’ve consciously decided to not release anything official. This isn’t like The Avengers. Even when the first Avengers came out, there were four other movies that people were familiar with. The suits and the tone and the look and the feel. So they could release those things or drop them on Twitter. With Simon on the X-Men movies, there were other movies that came before the last X-Men movie so Bryan [Singer] could feel more confident in tweeting teases of what’s to come. But this movie, we really want the audience to have the proper reaction to this material seeing it for the first time. You’ve really got to put your best foot forward.
...
Collider: You guys are currently in Baton Rouge. Simon, you confirmed that you guys are doing four days of additional photography, which is the norm on almost every movie. There’s nothing shocking.
Fans of Marvel movies have learned that with Kevin Feige they allocate budget to do additional photography on every one of their movies. So that’s the norm for them.
KINBERG: I think that’s the norm for most movies.
TRANK: I did about a week and a half of pick-ups on Chronicle.
Collider: Par for the course.
I mean, did Fox specifically pay them to tongue-bathe Trank and Kinberg or what?
I've only read the excerpts posted here, but it's entirely possible that they felt treating Trank politely would lead to him speaking more freely, which seems to be the case. Even if I were interviewing him and felt like the movie sounded like a train wreck, I know that it'd be better to get him to spell out the worrying things himself rather than me taking an accusatory stance and putting him on the defensive.
Hey, did Gillen do anything with Rescue in his Iron Man run?
Nothing. Ever since Civil War the entire focus on Tony has been that he's the necessary evil or oh look his brain is hacked and oh look again he's made poor decisions.
There is a hero named Tony Stark. A man who built an empire on death, turned it around and made the world a better place by his earnest desire to do better.
But nah Tony has to always be a villain now because haha everyone loves Iron Man.

I don't know why but "cool, practical military gear with a sick robot arm" resonates with me
Best robot arm
Isn't it basically Cable's robot arm?

"regular limb but shiny and with lines on it" is a fairly common design element for metal appendages
I think Colossus actually might have been the pioneer
I think Stilt-man or anyone in armor might have beat him to that.
