seriously, why limit it to what films we can use? Lots of us will own various different movies, and lots of us won't own the three you pick.
Leave that part open.
You can rent them.
If enough people think it should be open, that's fine, but I feel that contests like this should be about constraints because that's where creativity comes from.

I might actually do it if Re-Animator is allowed honestly. I don't know what you could make that movie that it isn't already, but I'd damn well try.

That's stealing.
One way or the other, I'm going to use a movie I already own because I ain't gunna go out and purchase one movie just for an internet contest, and if we limit it to three movies we're going to have a lot of the same jokes over and over and over again.

And while I have seen a lot of movies but I don't want to have to rent anything to verify that it's not using outside material or not just a trailer for the actual film.

If nobody else has seen the movie then fuck, disqualify it. Don't pick obscure fucking movies.
I'll throw something together. now it's my understanding that you can make your trailer from any clips within your chosen movie, not just clips shown in a trailer of that movie, because the OP is a little fuzzy on that imo

It's only stealing if we're making money, which we aren't. If you get the same jokes, then you're not doing a very good job and the person that does something different, wins. That's the point.
I'll open the thing to five movies but that's my limit.

You make a trailer from clips that can take place at any point in your movie.

Yeah, it's any clip from the original film and you try to make the movie look like something completely different.

no, I'm pretty sure that making a copy of a film you rented is stealing. Pretty sure.
But that's still beside the point.
I don't see what is gained by limiting the choices. I say leave it open or we're going to end up with rehashed jokes. Leave it open, you get a hell of a lot more creativity and choice.

Well I'm not going to leave it open so you can:
a) Deal with it
b) Piss up a rope
My game, my rules.

meh, I'm just being difficult because I only have like maybe twenty DVDs total. Most of my movies are on VHS
so I'm suggesting one of the following:
Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels
Mortal Kombat
Suicide Kings
Raging Bull
Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Quills
Teenage Gaveman
Kill Bill 1 or 2
High Fidelity
Delicatessen
Mazes and Monsters
Pi

Leave that part open.
I'm with Rank on this.
(if only for the fact that I'm in his head)
Also cause I have a loooot of DVDs to work with.

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey

ooooooh
I'm taking suggestions as to what genre I should cut it as.
suggesting dark city, lost in translation, or sid and nancy
How about a drama in which you don't give your mother cancer?
that would, you know, spoil the surprise.
damnit wiggin, you're dumber than I am
Manos: The Hands of Fate.
Secret Satan
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn
also, can I suggest "A Walk to Remember" because it was such a stereotypical chick flick that I think something fun could be done with it.
Secret Satan
dark city would be a good challenge
You know, I was just looking at Dark City.
Also
Vanilla Sky
Fuck you, I'm probably not going to enter it.
EDIT: And Tube called a stop to the fucking cancer jokes a while ago. Enough.
i'm mainly suggesting it because i have a ridiculous idea for it
I would think pulling off the MST3k version trailer would simply prove the dominance of the editor in the contest.
Secret Satan
