Rock and Roll McDonalds

Its July 26th and apparently none of the local miserable faggots has been to any (worthwhile) rock and roll exhibitions this season, since I figure there would be some sort of topic discussing them had they done so. Anyway tonight I saw 311 at the arts center, they performed and sounded very good, however their playlist was incredibly "safe" and fairly boring for anyone who has seen them at least once before.

Any of the rest of you spunk buckets do anything similar thus far this year?

They played Hive, and its always good, but then again they always play Hive.

This is the fifth or sixth time I've seen them, and I have heard all the songs played a minimum of 2-3 times before. The big disappointment is that they sounded great, they just didn't play anything special.

the only concert i've seen so far this year was Sparta with Moneen -- Moneen is a great one. Sparta was disappointing, in my opinion, but alright nevertheless.

last year was my concert year. so far ... nothing very inspiring is coming along. also i am broke.

    last year:

    wolfmother
    primus
    the decemberists
    tool
    green day
    rilo kiley
    powderfinger
    billy talent (twice)

Well, Monday I checked out the Mad Caddies and The Real McKenzies. Good show, was alot of fun. Tomorrow I'm leaving for the Hillside Festival at Guelph. Good shows there for the past few years. Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, that kind of stuff. The Slip is playing there this year, so that should be cool.

they were actually called "poised" and I only heard them on the radio because they were attached to some gig a couple of the local morning show guys were doing

and they were trying really hard not to mock them but you could hear the laughter in their voices as they talked about them

then they felt bad so they had one of them come on the show and it was painful

Being a cover band works when you're first getting your chops in a garage or a high school dance.

I really see no point in being a professional cover band.

Unless you're taking songs and playing them in some crazy other genre.

Like a heavy metal Kanye West cover band.

Only ever saw them once, but I love their music. Wish I lived closer to the coast so I could see them more often, although I'm looking at a job opening in CA that I might try for a while.

Has anyone been to Warped Tour this year? It's been getting worse over the past 5 or 6 years, but this year looks like it might be different. Bad Religion, Tiger Army, and Flogging Molly were enough to get me interested.

The best show I've been to this year was Dropkick Murphys with Sick Of It All and The Aggrolites opening.
