    The problem is is that all the characters are pretty much the same between the two. There's Kimba, the father, the evil relative to the father with a scar, the Timon and Pumba. There's also scenes in The Lion King that are extremely similar to the Kimba cartoons.

    Apparently the Lion King started off as a rip-off of Tezuka's story, but in ended up as hamlet with lions while many superficial similarities in terms of characters remained.

    Storywise they are almost completely dissimilar.

    man there is one astro boy image I wanted to post but I can't find

    I originally saw it in some blog on 1up.com

    it was about racism in japanese video games

    and via some wild tengenting there wound up being an image of astro boy from way back when

    it was astro boy standing in front of the star of david, trying to portect it from (I think) a swastika

    I thought it was the greatest thing I'd seen in some time

    and I just can't fucking find it
