My computer keeps saying it doesn't have the graphical requirements necessary to play this game when its 16-bit level at best and I can play any rom/emulator imaginable....I tried that patch on the download page but its not there anymore.
just beat the game... glorious. Anyone who even remotely likes rpgs needs to give this a try.
a question, though: is it actually possible to go back and
defeat cuchulain in the earlier part of the dungeon, thus unlocking that other door on necron 5? I tried to go back to the furry cave area, but i couldn't figure out how to get back there after releasing cuchulain in the tomb.

> turn on light Good start to the day. Pity it's going to be the worst one of your life. The light is now on.
I just got this game yesterday and it is pretty marvelous.
As said above, anyone who knows anything about jrpgs needs this game. Its pretty great how they really mock everything there is about jrpgs yet still make it playable and laugh out loud funny.
If only they would add joypad support I'd be amazingly happy.

Just use a program like Joy2Key or xpadder. It maps keyboard inputs to gamepad buttons. Personally, I like xpadder better, it's easier to use.
That program rocks! Especially how you can draw out your config to make it easier to understand. Great recommendation!
Getting back to the game, this has to be one of the best jrpg style games I have played in years, no joke. The humor is wonderful, this game keeps me going just to get to the next save point. Even the combat system in it has a nice little variety to it, really good stuff. This game is a marvelous piece of freeware.
I actually really hate JRPGs in general, but this is quite fun. It gets a little tedious sometimes (although it's NOTHING compared to actual, serious JRPGs) but the writing is just so great that I never want to give it up.
I like how they start throwing deus ex machinas at you toward the end, just to keep the plot moving.
"But we don't even know where the Ultimate B-Ball is... suddenly it feels like we did all this for nothing." "It's on Necron 5. I don't know how I know. I just know it's on Necron 5."
Well-made for freeware.

I just beat this yesterday, and yes it is indeed incredible. It's also funny that a freeware, homebrew parody RPG has a more engaging and fun combat system than most commercial RPGs.
Can someone explain what is fun about the combat? Is it not just standard continuous turn-based Final Fantasy style? I guess that's fun and all, but still not compelling me.

It's like the combat in the Penny Arcade game: turn based but with button pressing during the attacks.

It requires conscious input. That alone places it above 85% of all other RPGs out there.

For instance, when you want your B-Baller to attack, one is a jump shot. You hold the up arrow and release at the apex to do max damage. Of course you can also modify it by holding forward to do a forward jumper, and back to do a fader, which all have independent modifiers on attack and defense.
It gives you a library card listing how many OTHER library cards you found during the game (which for me was none, arg). I also didn't open that door that you can apparently open in cuchilainn's tomb.
My only gripe with the game is that it got a little easy at the end. None of the last few bosses gave me any trouble at all. Otherwise I give it a 28239085723/10.

Will there ever be a sequel? It refers to it as "chapter one" or "book one" or something right? I want more. The Hoopz as the b-ball messiah thread hasn't been resolved.

We can only hope. The showboat jammin' must go on.

If and when is there a Mac version coming out? 'Cause OS X is all I have right now.
Except in slightly better taste. And some super-awesome parody material.
I guess it's the "RPG Maker vibe", even though it was only partially made in RPG Maker.

Win.
But there's a hell of a lot more variety.
Clispaeth damn it.

I hear Cloverfield was actually just fallout from a Chaos Dunk.
1- What does the last pump give you? I failed his test.
2- The B-Ball Dimension, worth visiting?

1. An awesome alternate ending (actually, I don't know. I failed too).
2. Yes, even if it's just for the laughs.

The library cards and Cuchilian's Tomb are lies.

for the developers who spend tremendous amounts of money. for Barkley.
I love the shareware version of The Diary of Anne Frank. It shows how great this developer is.
