The whole marble thing is really kicking my ass at the moment. There are no offers at the Trading Post (I've built it as big as I can get it without more marble), and I'm a fair bit away from launching a colony. Almost tempted to buy some Ambrosia so that I can convert wine or wood to marble.

Played this relatively extensively with goons. It's a blast, but it's unfinished. Although I wasn't attacked often personally, apparently combat and blockading are kind of minor, you can bounce back from hostile action really easily. I got up to 3 colonies, but couldn't get the crystal to upgrade the palace for a 4th and final resource. Goon attention span being what it was, I was only of a very few left from the initial goonrush, so everyone who was still on already had their crystal tied up in trades. I decided against raiding for crystal, and said "meh" and wiped. It will be a blast when it is completely finished though, excellent level of polish for a web-based game (if a web-based game can be said to have polish).

You can only build/upgrade one thing per polis at a time; once more buildings are built, however, many of them can be doing things independently. Eventually, you'll also have more colonies working independently.

I've just started myself, but I could be building a cargo ship (trading port), slinger (barracks), and researching something (academy) all simultaneously.

What does it mean when your temple tells you the next donation is? Becouse I am not going to donate 356,267 gold.

Gryphon on Beta islands 49:64, 47:64 and 52:68. Does anyone want to set up the alliance?

EDIT: Oh and temples have two states. At their passive state they give a fixed bonuses and stuff like that. you donate gold and for a about a day the entire island gets a blessing. Look in the FAQ section for specific abilities and stuff like that.

Food

Can you actually take cities from other players? Because in the help menu, it seems that the only things you can do are pillage, occupy or block trade. None of which seem to actually make the town yours.

If you have a bastard of a next door neighbor, literally, head for Professional Army. Phalanxes + city walls tends to keep you good and healthy.

Other than that the science tree is pretty darn nice for setting you up for war...
