Has anyone else here ever done any modding stuff to their instruments? I put an in-built distortion instead of a tone knob on my les paul, and I'm completely refitting my Charvel, and my cheap-ass blue guitar (though the blue one is as a present to someone at christmas most likely)

In all honesty it's not great, but it isn't awful at all, probably not much worse than my Boss DS-1, though that definitely has as much to do with my pickups as much as anything else
But it's fun as heck to have ramping distortion sometimes, and you can set it up for sort of less than a pound, which is pretty nice
I like the whole customisation aspect of guitars. You don't seem to get it so much with lots of other instruments, but you can really make a guitar yours if you want, and I really enjoy that
That could all have something to do with the fact that I get far too attatched to my guitars

I would never ever use one of those things. I tend to stick with regular guitar playing. I don't use any fancy effects or do anything cool with the whammy bar.
My perfect guitar is pretty bare bones. Just a set of humbuckers with a 2 way select, a volume knob and a strat style fixed bridge. I wish there were 7 string versions of the Dimarzio FRED and PAF Pro. That would be even better.

its pretty much the coolest thing.
Wouldn't stick it on a primary guitar but it'd be neat to have.
