"I take it I've already told you about my condition."
Anybody remember any threads extensively discussing the movie Memento at length?
no, cause there are none. we don't really end up with those on any movies except big releases, and that is an older movie in comparison to the age of this forum.
You're not just saying that since that will be conveniently forgotten a few minutes later, right?

The problem with making a thread on Memento is that given that the end was at the beginning the thread was locked in the first post and that was prohibitive.
Alternative phrasing: In an effort to cleverly reflect the format of the movie, the thread was to be read backwards. Unfortunately, this meant the thread was locked after the first post and prohibitted the rest of the thread from being added.

Memento, the movie by Christopher Nolan way back.
I need to borrow from a friend after we watched it. We're kinda conflicting on our conclusions but he's not really the debating type.
mtvcdm I asked you a question. Israel does not take kindly to being ignored. Good luck getting approved for a mortgage anywhere in the West. You're blacklisted!

Ever think about what Memento would be like if you watched it the right way round? Boooooring.

I was typing a response to Keptin in the GreyHound thread... about a third of the way through the sentence by sentence breakdown I realized that I was soon just going to be shouting obscenities at him... *sigh*

It was really cool the first time you watch it. I imagine the magic will not be there as much with a reviewing, mixed up chronology or not.

What conclusions are those?
He thinks that
It happens as stated by Teddy, Sammy is Lenny. I was thinking that can't be true, because Lenny should remember in detail about his wife's diabetes, including remembering about insulin shots. There was also the detailed dialogue between Lenny and Sammy's wife, which is pretty much a part of the intact pieces of memory Lenny has.
Unless Lenny has conditioned himself to make those memories, but that would be too hard.
As I am typing this I managed to confuse myself further.
Good god the people in the 'that guy' thread are a bunch of whiny bitches.
Would you like some cheese?... etc.
:winky:
I've been 'that' person in at least half those examples.
People rarely realize when they're being annoying, especially when they're dealing with unreasonably easy to annoy people.
Hell at least a quarter of the posts hint at general disdain for humanity. It's a really interesting thread to read, I think. It really illustrates how angry and sensitive we are to provocation, intended or not.

It's been my experience that the less self-esteem I have at any given moment the more sensitive to criticism I am. When someone says "You're an asshole." I never just shrug my shoulders and say: "I know."
I remember having the argument plenty of times about whether it's appropriate to taunt overweight kids and adolescents to encourage them to change. What do you think?

I agree with you two, I don't think disparaging is an ethical or effective manner of catalyzing change. I think that plays a lot into some of the attitudes in the 'who do you find annoying' thread.

when threads like that pop up, and they have been a lot lately, I just find myself hoping that by about the 8th page someone will say something silly enough to change the topic to something that's actually interesting. until it gets to that point it feels like a bunch of people waiting for someone to be an idiot.

I may well edit it into order one day, just for fun.

That was a good read.
I really don't see why it couldn't just be part of the 'i hate it when' thread but, whatever.

I believe that was a special feature on one of the releases.

Maybe I should.
Some of it is mundane, some of it is a little more grandiose.
