    DRAW ME THE DAMN PICTURE!

Ha, ha no, I'm kidding. That aside, what kind of rules do you have to follow when using a camera? Are there certain areas or object you would want to focus on?

That's a great self-portrait, shake. It's always great to include what you love. My only issue is the third guitar seems to come out of your head. Might have moved it over a little, or moved yourself over a little. But it's really a minor thing. :^:

Okay, well lets say I wanted to go take a picture ooooffff... lets say my car (Black and Silver 2001 Dodge Durango), and I wanted to have that really close up look with the blurry background (such as your first photo). What kind of rules or precedure would I have to follow to get that kind of high quality look?

    This might help you out.

The blur effect is depth of field, I think the above link has something on that.

Basically, you need an SLR camera.

Isolation of subject through Depth of Field relates to the how close you are to your subject and the focal length and aperture of your lens. If you look up "depth of field calculator" in google or something, you can usually find something to help give you an approxomation of how much stuff is going to be in focus.

I don't know what kind of camera your dealing with, but I'm going to guess it's a compact digital camera, or something along those lines. For something like that, you probably want to crank your aperature all the way open, and find a place for the vehicle that doesn't have anything nearby in the background. The nice thing about cars is that they go places. Take it someplace with a nice non-distracting background and you'll be able to keep the car sharp and blur out a distant background to get some decent isolation.

Master Shake, what is your secret to photographing animals?

Mine are always moving and my shots wind up blurry out of focus. Do you use a distraction or are you just able to adjust for these kinds of things quicker than I am?

How did you ever get so awesome?

In short... I cheated in these ones and used a flash shot through an umbrella.

Usually I just bump my ISO and shoot wide apertures. With animals I just shoot faster shutters than I need to.

I have not tried playing with lighting a whole lot, and I'm sure it's more than obvious. Where do you put this umbrella/flash contraption? I am guessing it's not directly behind you otherwise there would be a giant shadow of you or of the camera and tripod in the way.

I'm gonna guess that its something simple that if I did it, it would make a lot more sense than if I just thought about it.
