On November 7th a very strange movie will be hitting theaters.
Repo!: The Genetic Opera
Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV) and produced by Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate, this futuristic horror rock opera stars Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), Paris Hilton (House of Wax), Anthony Head (TV’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayerâ€), Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Ogre (from the band Skinny Puppy) and world-renowned opera singer Sarah Brightman (Broadway’s “Phantom of the Operaâ€). By fusing Rocky Horror Picture Show and Blade Runner, this unique production will modernize the “rock opera†genre with original music and rich, dark production design.
I've been tracking this movie for a little while. I actually didn't think this would ever come out. But here we are in this crazy unimagined future. This is the story:
In the year 2056 – the not so distant future – an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants… for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men.
This sweet trailer

I for one really just want to hear Anthony Stewart Head sing to me. But I'm wary because it is labeling itself as a cult classic already. They certainly have one hell of a cast set up. Ranging from actual Broadway singers, opera singers, punk band heads, paris hilton, and Alexa Vega (who was actually on Broadway in Hairspray last summer.) I think I'm going to see it because I am a fan of the musical and for the sheer novelty. It will probably suck. It could be good. But we can all agree that we need more Anthony Stewart Head in our lives.

I hope
i'll definitely catch this
Something about signing just kind of makes it impossible to go too far over the top. I just hope the rest of the movie has enough humor to be fun and not just some SAW gore-fest. That's all that worries me.
more tits
apparently it's only going into limited release in LA, NY, Las Vegas, and San Francisco before going to DVD nationally in January.
early reviewing's been positive but I guess pretty much entirely confined to horror movie critics/websites.
and the whole thing was shot and edited in 18 months basically
not inspiring confidence ITT
this is relevant
this is the worst jerking around
anthony stewart head!
director of saw II
rock opera!
toture porn
cool cast and idea!
all but straight to DVD
entirely musical!
marketed exclusively to horror fans
SIGH
edit: I am like half the posts in this thread I'm going to go do work.
i was told last night

Upon further examination I've realized it's something goth kids are looking forward to and expect to love, Orik
Our kind is not meant to see such things
let us go sip latte art and talk about bukowski away from these awful people
hiphopster
this is Anthony Head's big one

ehhhh
I have a feeling if I see this I'll just be really disappointed at the direction they wanted to take it
I'm not really getting much indication of humor
Starting to think it's a lot of goth kids taking themselves way too seriously
I'd been assuming it was all dark stuff just from what promo stuff I've seen
I dunno it seemed so inherently campy
Damn!
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss
You realize it's not playing anywhere near you right
Why does it torment me so?
like the closest theater is over 1,000 miles away
IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes seems to suggest a wide release.
