The most jarring part for me was when Laurie was halfway through a conversation with her mother and then she's no longer having that conversation because it's 30 years ago or whatever. There was literally nothing to show that a flashback was about to take place, everyone in the cinema was all "Huh wait what?"
Also, one of my favourite scenes from the comic is right at the end where Laurie and Dan have just left and Sally kisses the picture of the Comedian with tears in her eyes.
It was a real pity that didn't make it into the movie. It was portrayed more like he was a one night stand that she had some reluctant fond memories of, when really I think they were the loves of each other's lives, only the Comedian was way too colossal of a prick for them to ever be together.

It was like Carla Gugino was really miscast though
Oh actually one thing I straight out did not like, and there was zero excuse for them doing this:
When Hooded Justice started wailing on the Comedian, and the Comedian's all "This is what turns you on?", HJ just goes "WHAT?!" and then keeps hitting him.
Now this was the only scene in the movie where HJ did anything other than pose for a picture. I know, I know, time constraints, they would have given him more character development if they could, etc. etc. Fine. But if they'd left this scene as it was in the comic, with HJ's anger suddenly defused because Comedian has pretty much hit the nail on the head, we could have at least learned that much about his character. It wouldn't have taken any more screen time than what actually happened either. I can't see any good reason for them changing it the way they did, and the movie suffers for it.

I just wish I could see some damn charred bodies during the pivotal scene near the end

some thoughts
it really was just disturbing to see all those dead bodies in the comic book
I wish they somehow translated that here
also Manhattan shrinking down was kinda weird
the psychiatrist didn't seem so disturbed by all this rorscharch business
I wish he was

Yeah
I was kind of hoping after Rorschach's monologue, they'd cut back to the psychiatrist and his jaw would just be hanging slightly open, and then as they stare at each other his pen would roll off the table.

I noticed so many things my friends missed
like the porn that was playing on one of the tv screens in Karnak
and also how rorscharchs mangled remains formed a rorscharch blot as well. that was a nice touch.
I really loved the boiling oil scene since it had rorscharch screaming that whole I'm not trapped in here with you thing and oh god it sent chills down my spine

I think "prick" is a little too light a word to describe the Comedian.

Haha yes, when they panned across the boiling oil right at the start of the scene everyone in the cinema was all "Oh nooo" because they knew right then some shit was about to go down.
I saw the porn too! I don't think many other people in my screening noticed though, it was a pretty immature crowd and there were only a few sniggers. Did you also notice that when Ozy was in the lobby with the other businessmen, "Everybody wants to rule the world" was playing over the PA?
Your friends are hella dense if they didn't see that Rorschach rorschach (lol) though. That was super obvious.
I liked it. There were certain things I wasn't happy with but overall I was content with how it came out.
Like how we get build up for Hollis and then never see him again because the city-wide riot was completely cut out. I thought his death was pretty powerful in the book. I understand the whole time constraint thing but if we had time for an extended sex scene they could have fit that. I went with my boyfriend and he didn't like that they changed it so that Ozy and Jon aren't talking at the end. He didn't like how Laurie delivered the "In the end..' line and I agree with that.
It's mostly minor things that I didn't like so nothing big enough to make me dislike the movie.

When he said, "I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me," the theatre broke into applause.

that actually happened GG
I just don't remember the whole story
also
now that I have watched it I feel as though a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders
and now I think of what Trent must be doing now
hiding in the movie theater
watching the movie again and again
I bet that is what he is doing right now
I bought regular theater tickets for this and somehow got funneled into the IMAX show. It was pretty cool, except I was crammed into the first row and broke my neck watching the movie.
I probably missed enough shit because of it to warrant another viewing.
Friend of mine had a spectacular Rorschach costume he was gonna wear, but we kinda forgot to tell him when we were leaving, and very nearly forgot to bring him at all, so he had to scramble a bit and didn't have time to get it all set up. Pity.
Did you see the Rorschach and the super half-assed Comedian who showed up at the Columbiana Grande? they were... hilaribad
which screen did you see it on?
We had this in Boston, and the kid dressed as Comedian weighted about 80lbs soaking wet. There was a hodded Justice as well. Also incredibly stick figure and it looked like he was wearing his glasses under the mask. The kid dressed as Rorschach was a real ginger though. Him and his friends got to the theatre early and got their seats then got up and left, leaving nothing on their seats nor anyone to save them. They came back 30 minutes later and were surprised when someone else was sitting in their seats and wouldn't move. They ended up not in totally crappy seats but it was pretty funny. About on par with the people coming in at 11.45 who were totally confused when there weren't 8 seats together in the upper seating.
Saw it in an IMAX theater. We had two Rorschachs, one of which was a girl, a comedian in his robe, Dr. Manhattan in business attire, and a terrible Silk Spectre.
Too bad the Dr. Manhattan just looked like Tobias.

this is beyond fantastic.
edit: doesn't really fit with his whole "never-nude" status unfortunately.
The BBC's reviewer, I forget his name, was just on NEWS 24 saying that Snyder cared more about how the characters looked than what they did and then he rather vaguely went on to say that people who had read the comic would very much notice that it was different and that people who hadn't seen the comic would wonder what the hell was going on

Man, the bit in the credits where
AND THEN THEY ALL OPEN FIRE

YES I DID. I commented about it like 4 pages back!
I saw it in 1. that's right, with the employees.
we saw it in 9, which was not nearly as full as I was expecting it would be.
