Went for lunch, came back, got other scanner working by simply switching off the plug and turning it back on.
Also, because it's Saturday and so there's no IT help, for some reason whoever is on the other computer with a scanner hooked up to it asks me for help. I feel like turning round and telling them that if they don't know the basics of how to use a computer, maybe they shouldn't try to do stuff on the weekend. :sigh:
