What's the point in having binomial nomenclature if you only give it one name? You're wasting a whole nomial!

I also blame biologists for everything in biochemistry having a different name to normal chemistry, even though it's exactly the same thing.

    example?

substrate instead of reactants, velocity instead of rate

and a bunch of other shit that I should know but haven't gotten around to going back and studying yet

okay apparently substrate is specific to enzyme catalysed reactions, but still, does it really need a new term?

uh, substrate is not the same as reactant

substrate refers specifically to what an enzyme is acting upon

    reactant lacks that specificity

and yes, it does need a new term to distinguish it from a reaction not involving an enzyme

Pistol shrimp are wicked. If I had the time and money, I'd create an entire underwater Old West mining town, pistol shrimp constantly dueling each other, rancher and miner shrimp getting caught in the crossfire and bartender shrimp running the saloon.

Daaang! Look at how big his hamster-talons are! (They're called hamster-talons, right?)

This sounds like something you would find at some small-town "petting zoo," when you stumble through the poorly-lit diaromas on your way to the lone port-o-potty, guided by a bearded man in a tobacco-stained wifebeater.

Edit: Obviously I'd pay money to see it, is what I'm saying
