MvC1 devolves quickly into Red Venom and double War Machine usage, though. MvC2 still has a comparatively wider cast of characters who can compete with the top four.

MvC2 is all about beam warfare. At least MvC is more like a traditional fighter. Not much, but closer.
As bad as top-level MvC2 is on balance, top-level MvC1 actually isn't better. If you think it is, either you haven't seen top-level MvC1, or you've played enough MvC2 recently that it's flushed that out. There are several times the number of usable tournament-level teams in MvC2 than MvC1. And remember that in MvC1, infinites didn't kick you out after a certain number of hits. Infinites killed a character if you started one.
I still would have thought that casual-level MvC2 would be more entertaining. Pals get to choose pretty much any character from the Vs. Series that they want, and not just 15.
Merely demonstrating Red Venom's brokenness. Off any hit, or off his throw even, he can take you from 100% to 0%, completely inescapable, without needing to use any meter. Nobody in MvC2 can do that.
Subjective tastes, I don't particularly care about. You or anyone can like or not like it for whatever reason. But this kind of play broke MvC1. There's a reason a decade later MvC2 is still a tournament game, MvC1 is shelved, and ST is still kept around.
you can't seriously defend mvc2 against another game with balance claims
Mostly that one.
If we had MvC1 with the same online play MvC2 has, you'd run up against this and you wouldn't have any reason to hate it less than Storm/Magneto/Sentinel/Cable.
Actually, scrolling up, I notice I was initially responding to Kuribo's Shoe's post. The point being: MvC2 is actually less broken than MvC1. And the main reason you don't notice is because MvC2 puts you online against players who know how to stretch the game to the limit and MvC1 can't. MvC1 against your friends who don't know how to use gamebreaking characters isn't going to demonstrate that.

my point is that they're both hilariously broken and i like playing mvc more
MvC2 is unbalanced; at least half the roster = you pick, you lose. But the top-character tier is about the size of MvC1's usable-character tier, and MvC2's usable-character tier is about the size of MvC1's entire roster.
But I still like MvC2 more because my Rogue/Cable/Cammy team does much better than my MvC1 Chun-Li/Zangief team does.

I like the idea of mvc enough to buy any and all forms of it but mvc2 is broken as hell and no fun to play online
same stupid shit
you can't seriously defend mvc2 against another game with balance claims
i wouldn't play either of them in a serious tourney capacity because they are both broken as fuuuuuuuuuck
that's dumb

I can do that, I just don't feel like it.

Doesn't matter though, since Capcom vs SNK 2 shits all over both of them.
What up.
eat my shit
i hit skill plateaus because all the local comp isn't very good
I know that multi is not the same as local, but I expect you to fucking play a LOT of Tekken with me.
But I still like MvC2 more because my Rogue/Cable/Cammy team does much better than my MvC1 Chun-Li/Zangief team does.
i just pray the netcode is great
finally have one of them
Knob, if Tekken 6 has netcode that is at least on par with Soul Calibur IV
I will be so fucking happy
Because even though the netcode won't be the greatest, it will be LEAPS AND BOUNDS beyond Tekken 5: DR
Soul Calibur 4 was pretty okay, though.
A bit of input lag, but amazing compared to T5:DR Online
you couldn't play it the same way as you would locally
gi and throw breaks were almost suicide and 90% of people just did amy jabspam
But at least you could press a button and SOMETHING HAPPENED THAT DECADE
Spidey can't touch that.
I'm a King of Fighters fan, and even I don't give a fuuuuuuuck about Rugal.
