Same here. I never heard about this before, but now it's on my must-see list.
... Time to find out how the girlfriend feels about horror movies.
Question: People are calling it horror and scary, but also Evil Dead 4. Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness was more funny than scary IMO. So, how does it compare to Army of Darkness?

It's much more like Evil Dead 1, both in terms of actual horror and in terms of being better.
This is a fantastic horror film. Maybe my favourite thing from Raimi.

I'd put the tone of this film somewhere between Evil Dead 1 and 2. It is more straight up horror in the tone of the first Evil Dead, but there are moments of extreme ridiculousness that feel like Evil Dead 2. There are even moments of Army Of Darkness pure silliness, like the graveyard sequence.
The part where she is driving to
give the curse back
the lead girl spouts out "Yeah going to get me some" and it is a moment of pure Army Of Darkness Ashely Williams. Probably the closest thing to Evil Dead 4 we are ever going to get.
There is a even a deadite sequence, straight out of Evil Dead 2.
I love Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness for their over the top slapstick and stupidity, but God damn I hated this movie. I just got back from it. Everything that worked in the ED movies worked against this one. I'm getting really tired of Raimi's schtick. Yeah sure, you have your trademarks, good for you. But stop retreading the same shit in every single one of your movies.

It's a lot of pop-at-ya scares typically followed by some comedic methods of getting rid of the threat. It's more of a horror movie tinged with comedy than an even split.
Theres alot o' gross shit in the movie, that alone made me wonder how it got pg-13. I wouldnt take a 13 year old to this movie by a long shot unless they loved their ass some horror movies. If you gag at shit in films, Id recomend you not watch it. I have a hearty stomach and one part made me gag hard
This was the best horror I've seen in a long while. Of course, i was laughing my ass off while everyone else was screaming, but that's normal for me. and my girl left some painful claw marks on my arm, but it was worth it. She's such a pussy...
Anyway. the plot "twist"was terrible, way way way way too obvious (to the point I'm not sure if I should call it a twist?) but that's my only complaint.

I don't know, I really liked the twist.
By that time the fact that she gave her boyfriend the coin was so far in the back of my mind. I liked how Raimi even teased about a mixup in the envelops when the papers got strewn about in the car, and then showed the outline of a circular shape within the envelop in the scene right after, just to dissuade anyone from believing a mix-up was made.

No but she does channel the character of Ash while wearing very tight wet clothing.

Well it was tense and creepy but also pretty gross and funny. So, in short, I dunno.

In my opinion it's definitely the best horror movie I've seen in years.

Just like he did in Spider-Man, right?
Wait, no.
The MPAA is so worthless.
It's even more idiotic that Army of Darkness was given an R for some reason.
To be fair, there's loads of unsavory language in that movie.
Also the movie stole my heart when
