Two thousand years ago...
A forgotten page of history occupies the minds of the finest cooks across the ancient world. Emperor of Rome, Titus, had an Ampitheatre comissioned to be built... but not the Colosseum we remember today. This was to be on an even grander scale, built to hold contests not between gladiators and beasts, but between the greatest cooks across the Empire.
After a lengthy construction, the
Culilary Colosseum was finished. The opening night was spectacular, as chefs from everywhere between Alexandria and Londinium were put on display, driving the audience into a frenzy with their talents.
Some say the powers on display were too great, for hours after this opening contest burning rocks fell from the sky, crashing into the Culinary Colosseum and burning it to the ground. It was never rebuilt.
But now, almost two-thousand years later, the emperor's billionaire descendent, Chairman Max Titus, has stumbled upon this forgotten chapter of history in the dusty tomes of his family library.
He will complete his ancestor's noble dream and build the
New Culinary Colosseum. He will bring the greatest chefs of the world together to compete. He will award the winner the crown of herbs and given the title of
Chef Supreme
This will be an eight-man tournament using the Five-Star Chef game, which
can be found here and is very easy to learn. The folks on IRC can attest that this is a fun game, so sign up quick and make your chef, posting him right here in the thread. The game itself will be PbP, perhaps allowing IRC when both competitors are that way inclined.
The format will be a series of one-on-one knockout contests over three courses, with a theme ingredient to be included in a way that will be explained once we begin.
A panel of three judges will be awarding stars for each dish, while Max Titus oversees things.
The Judging Panel
Marco Pilati - Italian Food Critic and snobby bastard.
Wulf Gravel - Explorer and Ingredient Expert.

The Rising Son of Japan
Saimon Okami was literally born into a sushi kitchen, his mother pooting him out onto the floor during a particularly busy night. After getting washed off, along with the tuna, he was quickly put to work entertaining the drunk businessmen. At the age of three, he had already earned the title of o-itamae for his culinary prowess. Now, at age seven and a half, he is Japan's most powerful chef - a master of fish, owner of a restaurant empire, voted Japan's #1 Ikemen for two years running, there is nothing more he wants than to become Chef Supreme.
Or his two front teeth.

When his parents were killed by a meat slicer that the American Steel Co. mislabelled in imperial units rather than metric, Gebhard vowed to redefine precision in modern cooking. His kitchen is hewn from one vast block of stainless steel, his instruments have to be stored in a vault 1 mile underground when not in use, and his measurements are always perfect. Many a would-be chef has met their end under the steely-eyed gaze of this Teutonic master.

Gebhard has raised and slaughtered countless herds of cattle and sheep to ensure they meet his high standards.
Cuisine Style: French
Gebhard's most prized possession is his custom-ordered, leather-bound, gold-embossed, signed copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking, which no human being other than himself is allowed to touch.
Signature Touch: Merciless, unyielding precision. Gebhardt has measuring cups that go down to the microliter, laser-levels, a stove built by NASA for the International Space Station, and a set of thieves' tools said to have come from Al Capone's vault he uses to adjust ingredients on the final plate.
Chef Jim "SUBLIME PERFECTION" Tokumi enters the fray.

Signature Twist: Explosive Food. Whereas most chefs will simply douse their food in liquer and light it ablaze to amaze their patrons, Chef V will actually make tiny pockets of high explosives on the food. Not only will it be on fire, but parts of it will explode (hopefully before the patron has finished consuming it).
Chef Mario Spanikopolous
Mario had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb. But that little lamb didn't love Mario the way he wanted. So now Mario makes a living chopping up dead lambs and [strike]having his way with them[/strike] serving them to the public. His infused olive oil is legendary, just don't ask about the secret ingredient.

Signature Touch: Infused Olive Oil - Mario serves flavored olive oil on just about every dish he prepares, but no one knows what the secret ingredient is...
Will see how things look tomorrow, but should launch things sooner rather than later. I'm thinking meals will be cooked one course at a time, to give more of a contest feel, rather than each chef ploughing through all 3 courses in one go.

I think it means you can choose.
6: Asparagus (Flavour 2, Risk 1, Pan/Saucepan)
So just like any other ingredient you choose which method you're going to use to cook it from the options listed.

Sauron disaproves of this statement, with his black steel forged sauce pan, crafted in the fires of Mount Doom itself!
