The gear jump seems pretty huge. The blacksmithing crafted melee one-hander of Wrath, Titansteel Bonecrusher, tops out at 467. The Cata equivalent, Elementium Bonesplitter, tops out at 1563! That's an ilevel difference of 159. That's, what, the difference between Kara loot and Heroic ICC 25?
Entry level heroics and 10 man naxx epics are technically both ilevel 200. The epics are still better, but not by some gigantic amount. I suspect that will be somewhat how it works if they stick with it.
So Mmo-Champ is claiming the closed beta is going on and the NDA is lifted. Now there's a metric shit ton of info posted. A lot of it looks pretty cool.

zone maps seem to indicate that the Lakeshire bridge still isn't completed.
One of our guild shamans found this and was slightly puzzled.
Rockbiter: Imbue the Shaman's weapon with the fury of the earth, increasing all threat generation by 30% and reducing damage taken by 5%. Lasts 30 minutes.
Unleash Weapon : Unleashing this enchantment forces the target enemy to attack you for 5 sec.
Shaman tanks are back!
Not really, but still that's an interesting if puzzling rework of a class ability. Heavily leaning on joke abilities for data miners to find on that one but we'll see. Looks like there's some other fun stuff in there as well.
that's not too confusing; shamans can handily tank any old content at least at the moment with frost shock (which appears unchanged at mmo-champ) and a shield. If basic gear from old/new vanilla content remains similar to how it is now at the moment, at least.
The bizarre thing is that uhh
you learn rockbiter weapon at level 75 at the moment in the beta.

Yeah, it's been bugged for a while, which sucks since it's tied to the "visit your class trainer and learn a very basic ability to show you how to do it" quest.
But the tooltop above doesn't reflect what's in the beta as of now, though, which might be why
I remember shaman tanks from vanilla, it's just that they pretty much ruled out shaman tanking coming back in any way. Having another tank at low levels and giving shamans a tool to do it is a good thing, it just didn't square up with there statements in the past.

There are screenshots floating around of the bridge and the Westfall Inn being finished.
I think the idea is to feel rewarded when you earn an Epic item again.
Not just the crappy Epics you farm to gear up for the better Epics.
It's not necessarily about status or e-peen.
It's Challenge vs. Reward.
This right here. It's pretty ridiculous that you can be in full epics and still vastly undergeared for ICC.
It's be controversial, but I think it'd be cool to bring back the tier0 kind of gear, the Blue tier sets. And use that gear for the first tier of raid content in Cata, and have just the last boss drop a piece of epic gear. Don't even give us an epic tier set until the second tier of raiding; that would really bring back the feeling of Epic.
Potion of Treasure Finding
Requires Level 80
Allows you to find extra treasure from monsters in Deephome, Twilight Highlands and Uldum. Lasts 4 hrs or until you find a special treasure item.

It would be interesting if these were just the "OH SHIT" cooldowns for tanking in case your main tank dies in a raid. Instead of just wiping, you could have a shaman or rogue pop cooldowns and tank a boss for 20-30 seconds while you battle rez the tank and get him back up.

What I was thinking as well. Combined with the (alleged) return of CC to Cataclysm, instances might actually require thought again rather than AoElololol.

There's a one-handed axe that BS can make. Requires level 85. Has almost as much damage and DPS as Shadowmourne. The stamina is approaching it, too, and the extra stats are haste, expertise, and AP +97.
No proc, though, or strength. Despite that, there's something strangely addictive about taking a look at new gear and marveling at the ridiculous stat inflation.
Seeing how much things inflate in every expansion is always mezmorizing. Remember how breaking 1k dps was the milestone in BC? Or finally breaking 10k health for tank?
I'm hoping to see warriors walking around with 100k hp, just to see it

I hope they finish them just in time for them to be destroyed again during the cataclysm.

They always have been there just most people did not know of them or how they worked
It's not much of a surprise I did not get an invite but it's rather annoying the same person got the last 3 and is rubbing it in

No! We Shamans better not be going back to being tanks. I always thought that Rogues, on the other hand, given an ability to tank for 15 seconds once every three minutes was more than enough. I don't want to go back to putting on a shield and crappy 1h mace to pretend to tank while I absorb more heals than the tank himself does, only because he had maybe 1000 more health than I did...

One of the highest ilevel items in Kara. Most of the gear is this ilevel. 125
The highest ilevel in Naxx25, 284.
So a difference of 159.

... Man, if that's not a joke ability and they're serious about shaman tanking being a possibility, I'm p hard for this expansion.

So the whole "Epics are for raiders and hardcore PvPers" will last till the 2nd tier of content. Then it's back to normal!

Not bitter or anything. Nope.
Huh. Interesting.
Right, its from alchemy. I meant it might be for archeologists, since they find treasures and stuffs.
I'm also easily amused.
Also, flasks are 300 str, agi, int or sta. Special potions are 1250 agi or str.
I expect you to be sharp ALL THE TIME. Way to let me down.
Maybe there will even be a better tank Flask than 1300 freaking health.

Shaman never had a taunt and rogues never had anything aside from evasion to aide their tanking exploits.
Rogues have a number of damage reducing abilities now.

Booo to Shaman tanks. Boo I say!
