Okay I'm thinking of ditching the rolling hills idea. I'm going to be too busy just dealing with the normal crops. However I should be able to go way quicker now.
I'm super looking forward to getting started. To be begin with I'm going to spend a while and get the whole crop layout planned on the ground down there. After I finish that I may ask for help in the physical planting.
What about using glass at the very top of the sky to block the snow from falling on the rest of the world or would that be too visible?
That's a weird idea. I'm not sure if it'd work.
I'll try it a little later, I'm still landscaping here while I have the rare moment with the server down.
Yeah it would probably just create a white sky and put the entire land in shadow now that I think about it.

Craaaap. I just found out the hard (and stupid) way that destroying a furnace destroys everything in it. Decided to relocate my furnace without thinking about the fact that all of the iron I'd found in my new world was in there. It was only 25, and the map is infinite, but it still makes me sad to go from feeling like I had a good chunk of iron to none.
Just a thought, would it be so bad if Ein turned on snow for the whole server? Winter is approaching for the northern hemisphere... snow covered deserts, Columbia in Christmas, Rapture on Ice and more. The lava land would stay mostly free of snow.

I was going to do this around wintertime as a surprise.
The only downside to it is that once you switch snow back off, the stuff that's already fallen stays on the ground, meaning you have a ton of places (i.e. desert) covered in snow unless someone manually goes and clears all that shit.
I kind of want to make Castlevania(either SotN or CotM), but I'm not exactly a patient man. I'd end up quitting by the time the entrance hall is finished.

Hrm. Someone should submit this as a bug to those editor creator people.
Munk, I tried bringing your bridge over, but it's set up so particularly for the spot you built it that slotting it in anywhere is really difficult. Sorry dude.

should make a bridge that links some of those islands!

Wheres the spawn going to be?
I have brought our lovely little /home-stead shack over to the new map and set it up in the middle(ish) of free build island with a nice vista.

What sucks is that earlier I tried to reinstall Vista. It failed, but before it had even started installing it ruined my Linux boot sector because it's a jerk like that. So I had to reinstall Linux, which, among other things, wiped my Minecraft.jar.
I have another on the backup disk, but, here's where things are awesome, I never logged on with that one. Which means that I can start it, and then try to login, and it fails, and then tells me "If you log in once, you can play offline!"

Sorry, friend just sent it to me, and I checked the last couple pages.
Which means more monsters. I'm liking this idea.
...I DONT have a problem, damn you MC.net! :P
Be great for a really post-apocalyptic section map though!
Its just that if i were to make trees and such, they won't be snow covered.. hence my delicious 8bit xmas scene will be less xmasy..

50x78 grid. I'll figure out the colors later.
I was gonna send her it as I knew she'd retweet it but nevermind I guess :-D
Freebuild island is for that shit. Do what you will.
Also, is this giant-ass airship thing yours? I think Bororm said it was, and he set it up so I could easily move it to the new map, so I did.
Dayum... that'll probably trigger another wave of sales for Notch.

You only have to dig out one piece of snow. Then you can just dig out under the snow and it'll disappear. I like snow.

Thanks, Minecraft. You're so helpful.
I'll have the server up within 10 minutes, I just have to upload the new files.
Edit: GAH! oh well, 10 min for that epic map is totally worth it
I have to run some final cycles, make sure I'm not about to upload anything that will destroy us.
IT's been like 5 already! Come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
