did someone say chain mails from grandma?!?!
Subject: Fw: Soros' 5 Steps to Take Control
American Friends;
This is possibly the most important email you will read if you are concerned about what is going on in OUR country. Keep in mind this man is a multi-billionaire and backs president Obama's efforts 100%. There is a large and growing number of people across the length and breadth of this nation who are beginning to believe that George Soros is the puppeteer and OUR president is the puppet. You make up your own mind. Everything you will read here is absolute fact. Learn all you can about this man and the people and organizations who he is behind with his tremendous money power.
The dark italicized writing below are the words of the American Friend who sent it to me. I personally watched the exposure job which Glenn Beck so masterfully did on this man last week.
John Porter
Harrison, Arkansas
If anyone does any research on this man, he is taking down this country as he has in the past with the Soviet Union and Great Britain to name a couple...........his target is the U.S.................very scary because it is slowly becoming a reality..........
Step 1. Form a Shadow government using humanitarian aid as a “cover.” Engage in subversive activities.
Examples:
* The Open Society Institute (OSI) spent $0.5 billion in charity around the globe “investing in people.”
* OSI financed the Shadow Convention during the 2008 Presidential Campaign and chaired by Arianna Huffington.
* OSI supported “campaign finance reform” campaign with $ 100 million which led to 501k(3) special interest groups like Move On and Media Matters contributing heavily without public disclosure to leftist election campaigns.
* OSI funded millions to Jim Wallis, head of Sojourners, a Soros progressive propaganda organization, to infiltrate churches with leftist ideology.
Step 2. Control the airwaves. Control existing media outlets. Attack Fox network.
Examples:
* Give National Public Radio $ 1.6 million to hire more reporters.
* Give Media Matters $ 1.0 million to destroy Glenn Beck.
* Give Tea Party Tracker operated by NAACP funds to derail Glenn Beck.
* Give $ to Think Progress
Step 3. Destabilize the state. Weaken the government. Use outside pressure-inside out strategy. Encourage massive government spending to pile up unheard of amounts of debt. Create an economic crisis. The one headed our way is the monetization of the US debt by the Administration and Federal Reserve leading to the devaluation of the US dollar and spiraling inflation. The first wave of this inflation will be unheard of food prices in the U.S.
Examples:
* Fund $ 4.2 million to the Tides Foundation for propaganda such as “The Story of Stuff” distributed to schools.
* Fund the Apollo Alliance who wrote the Obama Stimulas bill.
* Fund the Center for American Progress—Soros think tank.
* Fund the Institute for Policy Studies which recently produced a study recommending that Obama should enact more Executive Orders and bypass the Congress
Step 4. Provoke an election crisis. Cry election fraud in select elections.
Examples:
* OSI funds ACORN’s election fraud dirty dealings.
* Fund the Secretary of State Project—to influence the election of leftist Secretaries of State in the 50 states because they certify election results. Thus, steal elections.
* Fund One America Votes, a door to door campaign of illegal immigrants urging minorities to get out and vote in key elections.
Step 5. Take Power. Stage demonstrations and street riots. Bottom up strategy. Put pressure on the population.
Examples:
* One Nation Rally in D.C. in response to Glenn Beck’s 8/28 Restore Honor rally.
* The October 1 Labor Union Rally in D.C.
* Fund Ruckus Group of anarchists in Seattle.
* Fund Faith in Public Life to dethrone Glenn Beck.
* Fund Sojourners to discredit Glenn Beck.
* Fund Media Matters to call for Glenn Beck’s head.
Van Jones Strategy-Top Down, Bottom up, Inside out strategy.
What does it mean? Soros used this to destabilize Czechoslovakia in 1940.
* Top down—gain control of the government with leftist anarchists. [In the U.S.,this was accomplished with Obama’s election and his subsequent profusion of White House leftist czars.]
* Bottom up—Inside out: Create the illusion of widespread street unrest. There is orchestrations involved in this. The Czech people were hungry and unemployed and leftist anarchists stirred up violent street riots. The people clamored to the government for help to quell the unrest. Big mistake. The new shadow government stepped in, installed a Communist regime and clamped down on the entire populace. The leftist power grab was complete.
* This strategy made the Czech people felt alone and surrounded. They called for the wrong people, the government, to stop the madness.
Now, in America, we are in Step 5 of Soros’ strategy to take control. The big difference is, because of Glenn Beck’s educational efforts, the American people are not alone. We surround them. They realize that 40+% of Americans are conservative and progressives are in a minority. We are Americans. We will not let Soros and his minions take our country.
Glenn Beck is shining the light of TRUTH on Soros and Soros cannot stand the light. He sent a henchman to threaten Beck this week. The OSI created a charming propaganda commercial lauding the humanitarian nature of Soros this week. Soros is feeling the heat. He can no longer hide behind the curtain pulling the strings of his countless puppets. His plan to bring down America is exposed to the public. Share this with as many friends as you can.

shoot the ground or air.
then 50 goes next. they have a 50/50 chance of choosing you to shoot. if they shoot you, then there's a 50/50 chance of it hitting. but most likely they'll shoot the 100 because they are the biggest threat to themselves.
if they hit 100guy, then they'll miss you on their next turn. if they miss 100 guy, then 100 guy will take them out.
either way, you survive to round 2.
that's still dumb because he's just going to shoot you next.
you're just trying to maximize your chances, you're still probably going to die
we could make a tree chart but that's more time than I care to spend
Yeah it's a dumb riddle so I don't want to waste any time, but any move that leaves the 100% guy alive after the first round will at best, leave you and the 100% guy alive, giving you a 33% chance to kill him before he kills you.

I've heard this one a thousand times before and I have literally no idea why this doesn't work
The professor for class Logic 315 says on Friday: "We're going to have a surprise quiz next week, but I'm not telling you what day... if you can figure out what day it will be on, I'll cancel the quiz."
The students get together and decide that the quiz can't be on Friday, as if the quiz doesn't happen by Thursday, it'll be obvious the quiz is on Friday. Similarly, the quiz can't be on Thursday, because we know it won't be on Friday, and if the quiz doesn't happen by Wednesday, it'll be obvious it's on Thursday (because it can't be on Friday). Same thing for Wednesday, Tuesday and Monday. So it can't be on ANY day, so there's no quiz next week!"
They tell the professor, who smiles and says, "Well, nice to see you're thinking about it."
On Tuesday, the professor gives the quiz, totally unexpected!
What's the flaw in the students' thinking?
t Captain K: Not really, i mean I made it kind of explicitly clear that there's more than 7 wells in the valley, when I heard it 6 years ago they just mentioned the 7 wells as if they are the only to exist in the valley
Awesome story aside, the answer to the riddle is pretty easy to realize when you put yourself in the posotion of the knight:
Prior to the duel, the knight drank water from one of the lowered numbered wells so that the seventh well's water, given to him by the dragon, would actually cure him.
The glass he brought for the dragon were filled with nothing more than ordinary water, so that it would later drink water from the seventh well hoping to cure itself, when in actuality it would be ensuring its own death.
I got the first bit and the second bit occurred to me, but it says they both bring water from a well. Introducing another, non-poison well is cheating.
I said 1) that well valley had a shitload of wells and 2) that each side bring water from a well "they can reach", not a well that is numbered
7 wells is a shitload. You ever try to dig just one well?
Me neither, cuz it's fucking hard.

Friday, Thursday, and Wednesday makes sense.
However, the logic falls apart by including Tuesday and Monday in on Wednesday's logic.
If the quiz doesn't happed on Tuesday than it could be on Wed OR Thursday
If the quiz doesn't happen on Monday, than it could be on Wed OR Thursday OR Tuesday

Yeah with the cyborg one, if you hit either cyborg you have at BEST a 50% chance of living through one round and a 33% chance of surviving, as opposed to aiming to miss where you're guaranteed to live through one round and a 33% chance of surviving

this is a riddle i like. i didn't feel like typing it out myself so i googled it and copy/pasted.
Five pirates have to divide a treasure of 100 coins. The pirates have a ranking from highest to lowest. This is the system the pirates use to see who will get how much treasure:
1. The lowest ranked pirate proposes a way to divide up the treasure.
2. The pirates vote on the distribution scheme.
3. If more than half of the pirates vote yes, the treasure is divided as planned.
4. Otherwise, the pirate who proposed the scheme is forced to walk the plank, and the next lowest ranked pirate proposes a scheme.
The pirates have the following traits:
* They are perfectly logical.
* They are greedy and will vote to maximize their own treasure regardless of all other considerations.
* They are bloodthirsty and, all other things being equal, will vote against a proposal.
There are too many rules missing from the cyborg one. It doesn't say the other cyborgs will or will not shoot at you if you shoot at them. If you shoot at the 100% or the 50%, it still makes sense for both of them to shoot at each other before you.

the 50% and 100% guy have a deal to split the gold after you're dead. If you don't shoot the 100% guy you're dead.
50/50 to pirates one and two, then one two and five vote yes to it. #1 and #2 won't vote yes to anything else, they'll just wait until everyone else is dead.
Shouldn't the lowest ranked pirate snuggest that the treasure is split evenly between the second lowest and middle pirate, because any other way they'll just reject it and let him die?

If he hits, 100% cyborg gets skipped and you just survived to round 2. If he misses, 100% cyborg shoots 50% cyborg. 50% is dead, and you've survived to round 2.
Let's say you shoot at the 50% cyborg. If you hit, he's dead, and 100% cyborg will kill you. If you miss, he'll take a shot at 100% robot. Again, if he hits, you just made it to round 2, if he misses, 100% robot kills him and you just made it to round 2.
You make it to round 2, guaranteed, if you miss. Miss on purpose.

edit: oh, and when discussing this in a group, it helps to come up with a convention for what you're going to call the pirates. let's say the lowest ranked pirate is #5 and the highest is #1. helps cut down on confusion when multiple people post answers.
Rather than #4 and #5, #1 should propose that #4 and #3 split it 50/50? #4 and #3 will vote for it because it's the best deal they'll get without #5 being able to stop it and force everyone else to walk the plank, thus being the last one left alive with all the treasure. This is still probably wrong.
wouldn't pirate #1 just vote no to everything except himself getting 100% until he's overridden by the others or he's the last one left anyway?
I think this is part of the key to the answer actually. Pirate 1 will always vote no because of the way the ranking and math works. If you need a majority for a vote to pass then, in the event you reach the round with only Pirate 1 and Pirate 2, it will be a stalemate and Pirate 1 will end up with all the money. So I think Pirate 5's suggestion should include giving no money whatsoever to Pirate 1, since he's always going to vote no anyway to any division of the coins that doesn't give him all the coins--he can't die so it doesn't matter to him if the vote doesn't pass.
