Lame. Because I love how cleaned up a lot of the shots are (except with the lightsabers), but I'd prefer to see the original Max Rebo performance and Sebastian Shaw at the end of ROTJ
are they unaltered in the sense that nothings been added to them but the film has been cleaned up?
Or are the unaltered in the meaning that it kind of looks like ass?
I need to get them, since I think it was a limited run and yeah, I'd much prefer those over the altered ones.
It's a direct port of the Laserdisc version.
No true widescreen, grainy film "hairs" still noticeable, and other small things that piss me off.
I can't complain, because I bought it, so it's my own damn fault for funding such an obviously half-assed grab for free money.
I wouldn't call it a grab for free money when it's basically a grudging concession to the portion of the fanbase who won't stop crying about how removing the ewok song raped their childhoods.

Yeah, that argument might have had some weight to it had Lucas not released the same damn movies 30 fucking times.
The film has been remastered to ultra hyper-vision 25000x16000 hidef, with super duper 15.1 ultra combo surround sound, and he churns out a direct port that took two guys an afternoon to dub over.
Next year, he'll release the same thing, with one extra option or feature, then do it again next year.
The way I see it, is we'll get a good version of the originals somewhere near 2014.
Like I said, grab for free money.
I'm really not angry at George Lucas or Lucasarts or whatever. I'm more angry that the dedicated fans will buy anything, which kinda slows down the process of getting better quality stuff. Why should George put any effort into something better when he could get the populace to buy 5 different versions as teasers before actually getting to the good stuff?

I was seriously pissed off when they took out the yub yub song
oh and when they edited Boba Fett's lines so he sounds more like Jango
oh and when they put in that scene where Han steps on Jabba's tail... thing
Man, the fucking Yub-Nub song was a really cheesy way to end the trilogy. Honestly, I really prefer the new version.
That's what pisses me off about the special editions. There are actually some good ideas and welcome changes, like seeing more of Cloud City and the cleaning-up of shitty matte lines in the rancor scene. These are relatively minor changes that don't fundamentally change the movies in any way, kind of like taking that distracting reflection out of the snake scene in Raiders.
But I hate the new Rebo song, I hate all the awkward CG, and virtually every piece of added footage.

Lando and Wedge all clapping it up and dancing with admiral ackbar. Still brings tears to my eyes.
man fuck you George
So glad I got the Special Edition VHS tapes when I was little, so the only change in mine is the tail thing.
he is so lame
Ah, Ketch. The psychotic little Ewok tie interceptor pilot.
lucas throwing in boba like that just fucking burned me so bad on the fett's.
i'm starting to come around though, ever since i saw
this. (i dont care if i linked it earlier in the thread, i love it soooooooooo much.)
Baron Fel is awesome by the way

man I don't care what he does to the character in the prequels or added scenes or whatever
I just hate that he deleted Boba's rad angry cowboy voice and replaced him with a bored gay dude
also, Jango Fett sucked
he's totally not good to me dead
I always liked the idea that Storm Troopers were basically just recruits and conscripts from all over the place, and obviously not very good soldiers.
Same mentality as the TIE Fighters. Sure they suck, but there's a fucking lot of them.
Is this good y/n?
I have the first two, but I'm missing Empires End. Which is now impossible to find.
