That sounds like the least useful Devil Fruit ever.
I kinda thought it was overpowered and I think Oda thinks the same by giving it to a fishman that is naturally handicapped by the general devil fruit weaknesses.

I don't think we'll see epic for a while, at least not of the level we are used to. This arc is just an excuse for the crew to strut their stuff.

My personal take would be no, it's not worth watching the entire series, if only because a lot of the episodes are streeeeeeetched out. It is, however, WELL worth reading the comic (particularly because if you're at Loguetown at this point, you're past the sketchy early drawings). Then, after you've read the comic, you can go back and watch whatever specific fights you want to animated, and enjoy them that way.
Yeah, I'm going to agree with this, because watching animes of weekly mangas makes me want to blow my brains out with boredom, they're so stretched out. But, that's just me, other people seem to like the anime. But if you're getting bored already, I'd suggest reading it.

I haven't read the manga's but judging by Marco's comment that Blackbeard's body structure is irregular, I have determined that he suffers from Genetic Mosaicism. He is thus able to express the powers of multiple Devil Fruits, but only one type per cell.
Also I kind of laughed when Marco made that comment. Pretty much everyone in One Piece is irregular.
