Okay so we've all been away a while, tried other MMOs, etc. For me
personally...nothing has proven anywhere even remotely as worthy of my time as
The Lord of the Rings Online
All you need to know is as follows:
-The game is awesome. Seriously it is the best available MMO. It has the best-designed game world, the best source material, the best community, and the most hobbits out of any MMO.
-The Barrovian Sociey, i.e. the only kinship** worth joining, is on the Landroval server.
-To join said kinship you either have to be a registered member on the Penny Arcade forums, or be married to one.
-Upon hearing this, if you still wish to beg for admission into The Barrovian Society, simply type "/joinchannel PennyArcade wang" in your chat box in-game and ask if there is an officer available who can invite you.
-Any further terms of your admission are left solely in the hands of the officer who was unfortunate enough to be the target of your incessant pestering.
-Don't roll a male elf. They draw some...unwanted attention from certain...unfavorable types. Why rolling a male elf means there's a greater chance that you enjoy yaoi is beyond me. Just spare yourself the aggravation.
-Upon joining, every recruit is promoted to the rank of Kinsman or Kinswoman depending on whether or not your sex organs dangle. Only the worthy are awarded the title of Officer. Don't ask what makes one "worthy", as it is something that is completely arbitrarily determined by me on a day-to-day basis depending fully on my current mood and how well my penis performed the evening prior.
NEW RULE: If you are offline for more than 600 days you will be expelled from the kinship. It helps keep clutter to a minimum when browsing through the kin roster, and I figure it's a good cutoff point seeing as we've never really had anyone return after that long.
Also, there are no bad classes to play in LOTRO. With the recent Isengard expansion, every class has seen its share of attention from the devs, and it seems they've all become OP in their own right. Play what sounds fun to you.
Good talk.
**
"Kinship" is the fancy LOTRO word for guild
Addendum:
This is a map that allows you to pick a region and an object, and see it's approximate coordinates. It's not 100% accurate, but extraordinarily helpful nonetheless. No longer must we solely rely on the sometimes-broken quest tracker to help us find that elusive NPC or those hard-to-find random useless objects we've been asked to collect.

If any Europeans are looking for a server to roll on: Evernight is pretty cool. I can help you out with items on it too and can get you in an active kin that's only slightly retarded.

Exciting.
Heh. Nice catch, thanks.
Thread title's just a jab at RK's being Turbine's new prostitutes. I figured now that they're officially sponsored prostitutes, they should have access to health insurance.
Also, Volume 2 "Solofication" dev diary is up.
My personal favorite tidbit:
Book 6 - Chapter 8: New Devilry
"...during the development process we discussed if we should remove the Cloak of Shadow and Flame from the loot tables of the final encounter. We decided to leave it in..."
Also, listen old man, if Dragon Age 2 hadn't come out today, I'd suggest leveling an alt with me to curb your apparent boredom. But in light of today's circumstances, I'm going to advise you to merely take your damn Metamucil and go play bingo with the rest of the old farts at the home.
Mine too. I want to farm that thing so bad and now it'll be relatively easy to do so.
Yep, three new skirmishes.

Origins is definitely worth putting some time into, and 3D Dot Game Heroes is amazing. :^:
Just doin' my part, mate.
The part where you could pick your model and one of the options was a shark just made the game for me.
Tony Danza would approve.
Heh. I rather enjoyed the part where you could make your own model. Though I soon found out I was not talented or patient enough to do so.
Dammit, Pheny, quit projecting your immeasurable Danzalove onto others.
Edit:
I'm having a thought here...
Turbine has to be noticing the relative emptiness of their servers right now (Landroval at least). I wonder if it won't kick their asses into gear with getting this patch to go live. A boy can dream.
Edit2: Server restarts to happen Thursday morning. One can only assume/hope this is for (or at least in preparation for) the patch.
We have a shiny, new Supreme Master Jeweler in the kin.
I finally completed my Captain's Rift set. Got lucky on the shoulder roll in a Balrog only PUG.
Of course that took me only two-ish years to complete.
Edit: It's over. Hope someone won.
You actually found people running the rift? O_o
Well damn...congrats, then.
Then my question is, what is the absolute earliest point you can get a legendary weapon?
At level 45 you can start the quest chain in Eregion to get your first legendary weapon.
Also, Turbine is doing some PAX tie-in deal.
But I've already sworn off spending any more money on this game.
You'll give in. We all...give in...
10 days folks.

Nah, I've bought enough points. And I'm not actively playing at the moment. I'll just let my freebie Lifer points build up.
Edit: found eeeeet.
this man is a genius
Finally got back on my burg over the weekend after sending him into brief exile for multiple fails at protecting Toki Whitebread; he did finally complete that, and then went on to spank Gurzmat and his little drawf butt-buddy on the first try while still at 41, while my hunter had two fails at 42; I think the difference was burglar's better cc, which kept shorty out of the fight until Gurzmat was already dog-food. That, and the interrupts from stuns.
P.S. Thanks again, Hjartad, for telling me about pandora.com -- I set up 5 channels over the weekend, which covers just about everything I want to listen to... Latin, blues, prog rock, Celtic, and renaissance/medieval. All that's missing now are a couple of classical channels if I can add later (need to figure out how to omit the entire Romantic period and that 12-tone crap).
