I just got through Hellsing (dubbed). Thought it was pretty good, though not quite living up to what it could have been. Will need to give ultimate a shot.
Honestly i thought the anime was pretty awful compared to Ultimate. You're in for a treat!
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

Someone should have just nipped that anime in the bud right around the end of the Soul Society arc. I think too many people were already attached to the money wagon at that point though.

I don't "get" why Trigun is some popular anime. I watched it and I found it kinda lame. There were some cool characters, but the thing as a whole just... fell flat to me.

The trailer for the new Woody Allen seemed interesting. I'm going to watch it, despite the recent record.
It was alright. Owen Wilson is surprisingly fit for the requisite role of Woody Allen's stand-in, and some of the cameos are rather charming. The guy who plays Hemingway has a humorous bravado and intensity to him, but still manages to avoid coming off like a parody.
On the other hand, the historical figures occasionally feel like caricatures or mere window-dressing. Names are frequently dropped, as if to prove Allen's familiarity with the 1920's, and Parisian cityscape is depicted as little more than an enticing tourist destination rather than a place with any real complexity.
Lastly, the relationships between Wilson and his love interests are so thinly rendered that plot twists involving adultery and abandonment barely leave an impression on the audience. Whereas you'd usually be critical of a character who two-timing his fiance, this film deserves criticism because it makes it impossible to care about the fiance at all. It's a film about a man at a turning point in his life, and yet nothing at all is at stake.
Still, it's a breezy comedy with extremely humble goals, and in that regard it's a success.

I feel the same way about Cowboy Bebop to be honest. It was all right, but I don't get why its regarded as one of the best animes ever made.

if you are going to watch Baccano, you need to watch it dubbed.
Seriously the accents are all great and hearing Japanese in 30s America is just jarring. Go with the English.
Oh I watch all my anime dubbed. I know that it makes me a terrible person, but meh.
Actually it just means you're a person who has personal preferences towards dubbed anime
Anyone who takes a hardline stance on the side of subs vs. dubs and which one is a greater representation of the wonderful animation of glorious Nippon is a terrible person who needs to be killed before their disease spreads
I think on a couple occasions I've seen the Japanese voice acting so much better I'd recommend it over the dub, but otherwise I'd agree.
Well what I mean is both subs and dubs are acceptable
Listen to a little of either and pick subs or dubs as appropriate to which sounds better
Rule of thumb: If it sounds bad in English it probably will be better subbed, but if the English VAs are actually good go for dubbed

Ghost in the Shell is such an exploitive mix.
It's an anime about a scantily clad, hot, female cyborg in a transhumanist cyberpunk future version of Japan. And then a bunch of the story lines are self-aware looks at creepy cult fandom and lonely men sexualizing robots.
Edit: What I am saying is that it is one of the best things ever.

Hey dad, think you could move your chair over a little so that I can lean my chair back at all? No, you want to literally be touching my chair? That's cool, I guess.

I always wonder why anime got a huge following in the USA, but never made an inch of progress over here in the Netherlands (Pokemon and DBZ were huge hits in the '90s, nothing else). Thinking about it, I think I only once met someone who was into animes, and she went all the way with weeabooism (Japanese film, japanese pop, japanese..... everything). And I've met a lot of nerds/geeks/neckbeards as a chemistry student. A lot.
Also, due to my own nerdisms I cannot see that bepop intro without thinking about this (Oh ytmnd, you were so.... memerific)

OH MAN YOU AND ME DUDE

Gamble Fish is uh... not quite as good, and has a weird obsession with also being a harem anime.
Anything else by the guy who did Kaiji, notably Tobaku Haōden ZERO.
The best part of Bebop was Edward and the corgi.

This is my favorite opening, it's no anime but it has samurai allusions and is animated so it might as well be anime amirite.

Bebop, Champloo and Afro Samurai if Afro Samurai counts.
