Speculation--others have touched on this, but I must speak!
First: The Tumor created the Green Sun in a way almost precisely identical to ectobiology, using the "paradox slime" of the Humaverse U1, and the Trollverse U2, and contains mass equal to the two combined.
Second: An issue that nags, like an invisible splinter, in the purpose of Sburb/Sgrub: the game doesn't actually INCREASE the universe population. Each universe must, in effect, die so that a new one can be born. The Exiles re-establish life in the ruins of a post-session universe, but that seems to be pretty minimal for "growth," especially since some sessions can be "barren"--ending an entire line.
Third: Numerical progression of players. The unnamed session that begat the Trollverse got "pared down" in players from 48 to 12, and the session they begat (Humaverse) got pared down to 4. Each step is a divisive cut; going backwards, the sum is always a power of 4 (Humans: 4^1, Humans+Trolls: 4^2, Humans+Trolls+Unknown: 4^3). But the game cannot be played alone, so the pattern must stop with the humans--unless, somehow, the rules for generating new universes can be broken. It's also possible that this "pattern" isn't really a pattern at all, but knowing Hussie there's SOMETHING to this tidbit.
Theory: What if the whole stream of events, everything that's happened throughout the entirety of BOTH sessions and their Scratched counterparts, is leading up to some kind of REAL growth? Maybe the Green Sun is actually a source of growth, and so all the negative things it's powered (Bec Noir, Doc Scratch, maybe even Lord English) make an acceptable trade for the good it could do. Perhaps, what with having a Dogtier Witch of Space and four other fully ascended players, the group can deal with all of them and make incredible numbers of paradox clones of their universes!
Anyway, just a thought. Also woo, my first post here!
I don't think any necessary patterns between the trolls universe and the kids one is indicative of how the pattern is supposed to go. They have a number of things tying them together which makes me think there is something more connected between them other than one creating the other.
