I just read up on that Torrentspy ruling. It's a stupid ruling, and the judge is an idiot. Not because of the catching the pirates rar rar pirates bad, I don't give a shit about that. But because declaring something subpoenable means you must keep records of it. Do you want to log every page of your ram, cache, l1 cache, l2 cache, router cache, etc etc allt he way up to anything that has any kind of volatile memory at all? Pretty much that's what the precedent would allow, and while possible, it's not practical to log that much stuff.
And no they can't just log what the judge wants, because if its subpoenable, they must log EVERYTHING.
Bad judge. You don't really understand tech at all. She basically told them to write down every thought they have and measure all the air they breathe. Not very smart.
Nice sophistry. Not buying it.
What she said is that just because it's digital doesn't mean you get out of retention laws. You can have whatever retention policies you want prior to being sued (well, as long as they fall within any other applicable regulations.) The moment you are sued, though, you are required to retain copies of relevant communications. TorrentSpy tried to say that because the information was only recorded in RAM, they had no records and did not need to record. The judge disabused them of that notion.
And they keep playing Jewish music, because it's New York

Also, I found out my Contemporary Civilization teacher today, it's a Core class at mah school so like everyone in liberal arts college takes it and engineers have choice between that and two others, and since it's small classes it all depends on the quality of the teacher. The two reviews say: excellent and so-so. I hope she is good.
I really wish GV weren't so dominated by discussion of superhero comics.
That's like, everything that's wrong with the industry, right there.
I read it, but with the air of a man going to his own funeral. I mean, every time someone wanders in and goes "hey, I'm new to this comics stuff, what's good?" everyone's like "House of M! Infinite Crisis!" and I'm just like

More like World War Hulk, now.
I read Planet Hulk. It was nothing special. It was, in fact, pretty bare of any story at all. It was mostly just the Hulk beating aliens up with plot advances occurring for no particular reason.
I mean, he was in love with Caiera for all of like, one issue before she gets killed in an explosion that she should have been able to survive which happened for no particular reason and which somehow managed to ruin the whole planet.

I see. That is not how she phrased it, and unless its only confined to this case, suing somebody could shut down a company because the costs of keeping a record of everything in ram is enormous. This precendent will backfire.
I don't care if you aren't buying it, I'm not arguing the right or wrong of torrentspy, I'm pointing out how the precendent could go wrong.
At the moment the order is on halt while they appeal.
edit: Also sophistry would be if I was arguing in favour of torrentspy in any way while saying I wasn't, rather than just flat out saying the ruling is stupid for other relevant reasons. So try to use words you understand when insulting me.
Morninglord on
(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
I'm going to go to GV to find what Brig. Jacob-Kosh recommends in comics. I used to love comics, but nowadays I hardly read them at all. Mostly because they're so shockingly expensive compared to books, but also because I have no idea what's good - the last great thing I read was Sandman.

Oh dude. Oh dude. There's so much good shit since then. I haven't written down a list or anything, but give me a few minutes and I will.
Fuck I hate having my phone on 3. I'm finally catching up on a shitload of sleep, when they message me with the vitally important news that I can get Fallout Boy tracks on my phone. Now I can't get back to sleep and I've got a shit song stuck in my head.

So... turn off your phone when you're sleeping?
I am actually waiting for some quite important news that I wouldn't mind being woken up by. It's the fact it was something so trivial as a shite marketing message that pisses me off.

Is your avatar male The Cat?
No, it's another character from the same comic strip.

Previously I would just rip them onto CD and then rip them back, but that isn't very practical for a 10-hour audiobook.
I have no idea if it works or not
Suck my penis

Why?
I agree. My friends liked her. I thought she was...something.
I'm not pro-river.
Fixed that for you
