Current SC2 Playable Mods
You've arrived at the official Penny Arcade StarCraft 2 discussion page. Here we discuss everything from the game, the races, balance issues, tournaments, and the culture (K-Pop, etc). Be warned, this thread moves quickly, especially when live events are happening.
StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm has released worldwide! Go buy your copy today and help Kerrigan destroy the Terran and Protoss menace.
How to play with PA people.
1) Log into Battle.net and join the group Penny Arcade (on the NA realm). We all hang out there. Chat, 1v1 lobbies, and team shenanigans are always going on!
2) Sign up for a replay site such as gamereplays.org or drop.sc. This is a site where you can upload your replays. The perfect way to share your replays with the thread and get advice on how to get better. Gamereplays lets you post the cool banner that you frequently see on the internets and drop.sc lets you upload replays without having to create a new account.
3) Register with the PA SC2 1v1 Ranking site. Sign up for this awesome site to see where you stand amongst fellow PA members. Remember, this is important in the nurturing and expanding of your e-peen. Add yourself by clicking on [Manage Characters] on the top right side.
4) Sign up for the PA mumble page. Sign up if you want to chat with fellow PA users during games or watching tournaments. Thanks to Exoplasm for hosting the service and providing the step-by-step process for installing mumble.
Where can I watch some good tournaments and streams?

he lost the first game but he looked better. was way behind from the get go and still made it close.
I've been tryng to but I have rarely pulled the trigger
still watch it every day though
the games are better than ever
the idea of being good at this game, however, that's a good thing
I bet you don't notice your Protoss pornography either.
Kids these days... no respect.
I've actually FIXED my computer overheating problem that kept me from playing more than 4 consecutive games a year ago. It also kept me from team games. No overheating or related performance issues anymore.
So I don't have an excuse not to play again.
Aside from recently starting Skyrim. >.<'

whereas what you should be thinking is "we needed to expand more"
playing defensively doesn't mean you turtle up on one base and never leave it. And you don't want to build many static defenses either. Playing for the long game simply means that your goal is not to end it early. Playing defensively gives you a defensive edge (obviously) which can be used to protect earlier expansions than your opponents.
Think of it a bit like a zero sum game, because that's pretty much what it is. For every attacking unit your opponent builds, you need to build something to defend yourself if they attack with it. However, because it takes time to cross the map, you need to have a much larger attacking force when you start just to have a winning army when you arrive. Thus the defender can get away with a few less units when defending, because they'll have more by the time the attack comes. Instead, those extra resources can be invested into a few more workers, which make you more money, which let you invest in bases, which make you more, and more.
I remember losing most 2v2s that way. It was just too much to hold off.

If you're not playing coordinated and the other team is, then yeah, sure, you're going to lose.
But one player feeding another's economy doesn't magically enhance their ability to make mans. They still have two players worth of resources, bases, and production to fight with, just like you.
The only real advantage that feeding one player resources has is that it allows them to produce more of a given unit than you might be expecting. If you're playing a Zerg player and a Terran, and you're preparing an army to deal with a force of mutalisks from the Zerg and a swarm of marine/medivac from the Terran, if the Zerg suddenly shows up with a mutalisk army twice as big because the Terran is feeding him cash, you might not be able to handle that.
@Cantido
You realize you're greatly disappointing the thread by not posting any pictures?

Just play casuals. I jumped on unranked for a game every couple of days. Nice and relaxing when I need to unwind.
You do not want pictures of , Jimjibangs. And anyway, unfortunately, the nice jimjibangs are in Busan, not Seoul. Dragon Hill, dead center in Seoul, is nice, but rather expensive and touristy. Norebangs are fucking awesome here. When I drink I get this crazy notion that I can sing Blind Guardian. Lets just say I lost my voice.
And I did not have my camera during Ultra Korea 2014, but here's someone else's picture.
For the first day, nobody gave a shit about the second stage with all the K-Rock and J-Rock bands. Things heated up the second day when the electronic and hiphop artists came. My friend loved M.I.A. But all the good shit was on the main stage, where Nerva, Chris Lake, Jazzerblast, Paul Van Dyk, Steve Angelo and Steve Aoki absolutely knocked it out of the park.
I think she won this NA thing... Dunno when whatever this qualifier leads to is though.
Shiiieeet, managing to defend early aggression, repeal it and take the game thanks to your early economic advantage might be the only thing in sc2 that really makes me feel like I've actually accomplished something. I kinda wish more people did competent cheese.
Otoh, when you have that early edge and still lose cause you didn't scout the other person's greedy expansions or didn't have macro that could match his... FML.
I've actually avoided making banelings in zvz for the longest time, cause my ling/bling fencing earlygame suck ass (still do). Though I've finally got the feel for how you don't necessarily have to use them, just making the opponent knwo you have two-three banelings will for the most part make him cautious enough to give you the chance to reach some sort of mid-game play.

@rts dude that's friggin' awesome!! Congrats!
I'm pretty sure you're the reason they have created their first ever fully dedicated "Overlay Artist" for their Hearthstone team, once they realized that UI is not to be taken lightly.
So go keep doing awesome things or we'll tell them your dark secret of being a Formula 1 fanatic.

Everyone knows that singing Blind Guardian is a piece of cake while drunk. It's not like Hansi's voice is absurd or anything.
In other news, grats @rts man! I still remember how excited everyone was when Gameheart got picked up by GSTL, now I get annoyed when tournaments aren't using it.
Actually I sit really close to a lady who is a huge F1 fan... it is awesome.
Did Tasteless quit smoking he doesn't sound raspy.

Super Agree! BTW, are you a full-time Blizzard employee now or just consulting on a project? Either way, it will be an awesome addition to the resume.

Code S.
soO makes his third straight GSL final. first player ever to do so I believe they're saying, sounds right to me.
Only downside to it is it's a team kill (vs Classic, toss) but it should still be fun. There's been enough pvz that I don't mind seeing some weird headgames and maybe a unique series. Love the matchup and I'm sure it can get wild.
So that's exciting!
MLG pays attention to wardrobe and presentation so we won't see the atrocities of days past.
