So, Far Cry 4 VALLEY OF THE YETIS
is there anything preventing me from getting all the base defense upgrades on this first day and then having a super beefed-up house for the rest of the game?

Nope!
I spaced mine out over a few days to try to keep it kind of balanced from night to night, but then I got skittish because I thought it was coming to an end soon
If you want to space it out, here's the number of nights (at least that I remember)
3/31 - Axiom Verge
4/7 - Darks Souls 2 and Bastion (though I may way for sales on both of those as I've already played Bastion a bunch and I'm still gonna be busy with Bloodborne)
4/21 - Shovel Knight
4/28 - Broken Age
5/19 - Witcher 3
6/23 - Arkham Knight
and then also the House of Wolves expansion for Destiny whenever that comes out
Only a handful of characters in Witcher 2 are from the first game
It's an in medias res story either way, you're meant to piece together who these people are by their actions and how Geralt reacts to them because he already knows them and you don't
Haha okay I just finished Shadow of Mordor
That last segment is hella rushed, but that very last scene is so dumb in the best way, and overall it was an incredibly fun game
I'm gonna take a break and finish VALLEY OF THE YETIS and then do the Bright Lord DLC and then I think I've completed all the big triple-A games in my collection

I'm waiting to see on Axiom Verge and Titan Souls
I am absolutely going to get Mortal Kombat X and Shovel Knight, and maybe even Broken Age
And hell if I have any left over I might buy and play Bastion AGAIN, for like the 5th time
Like Hyper Light Drifter I already know I'm gonna be all about
Titan Souls may be something I just respect from a distance
I am guessing I should investigate?

Cheap month!
I do not think I like Titan Souls.
Edit: Yeah definitely not a fan.
Maybe I should get MKX...

Witcher 2 was a game I really wanted to like but just couldn't. Probably cause I never played the first one.
Steam
That is a cool-ass game that is basically unplayable on a keyboard to me, but I will adore it on a controller
provided the arrow aiming will be on the right stick
Didn't help that the combat didn't click with me either.

Its a 2d game inspired by them
You fight big bosses with a bow and only 1 arrow
which is really just terrible planning on your part
If you can't get that done with a single arrow that sounds like your fault to me
If I hear it in a game title I'm just assuming it's that kind of game
And was sorta right in this case
Hard giant bosses and your character is a ordinary person trying to beat em
But then I think that it would just end up being really similar to the castlevania games?
But that's fine with me.

Eh, not really. That games going to have permadeath and randomly generated environments, which is pretty much the exact opposite of Dark Souls.
Isn't 2D Dark Souls 100% what Salt and Sanctuary is?

To be honest, that whole mechanic kind of skeeved me out
Take over an orc and then do those missions yourself, and influence them directly
Then hit the self destruct button to make your head magically explode
turns out the real orc
is manelf

Oh, well, except for AC Unity
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood!
Rewatching that trailer after beating The New Order skyrocketed it to the top of the list of games I'm looking forward to
Even just like, hearing that they got BJ's voice actor back was great
