Regrowth is also a kind of skyblocky experience, where instead of a block of dirt in the void you have a whole world that is completely dead. I know regrowth has a good builtin quest system that guides you through everything.

I would say even still, it requires some basic familiarity with modded minecraft to avoid just being immensely frustrating.
Do you remember uh... maybe having some trouble with witches spawning? That uh... absolutely wasn't because I hid a spawner inside one of the trees in your witchery altar. And uh, there may or may not have been high speed rail service between my witchery circle room and your basement's bottom floor.

Okay so maybe single player solo isn't as bad as I previously made it sound.

God now I want to do a skyblock with all you miserable bastards on the same server (everyone with their own island, of course)
Nah theres plenty that can be done harmlessly..like my go to prank of doors and a timer circuit to repeatedly open and close them, creating a cacophony
Honestly it wasn't worth it. It took an obscene number of villagers before we could get them to spawn reliably and if we had put the effort into mining iron that we did into making that village as good as it was we could have built our houses out of iron if we had wanted to.
In theory yes, but I've moved and my connection is not the beast that it was at my previous place (I'm back on comcast :bigfrown:) I can try to run a server but I strongly doubt I can host as many people as I did before.
Edit: This is not a "No". I'm willing to try but I just can't guarantee the quality of service.

Aww. Oh well, no point hurting your daily animal porn watching netflixing.
It won't hurt my ani netflixing. That kind of stuff is generally very tolerant of performance fluctuation, there just might be some performance issues for people connecting.
Aaaaand, the first tree I grow is one of the goddamned big ones... Wish me luck.
Should be fine. just press ~ and you can veinmine the leaves with a crook, and veinmine the wood with anything (use a stick early game, no durability to lose)
also 3.0.5 of Skyfactory 3 dropped today, which is supposed to have some performance enhancements from what I recall from the rumor mill, but you can no longer use chippings (results from hammering tree logs) to make dirt, instead they make..sponge I think?
Also, I can see if I can spin up a server if you really want to do the early game of this map again.
Nah not gonna impose on such a headache just for myself and nostalga, I'm leaving the house shortly anyways.
But if you need any help feel free to throw me a @ or a PM
Just some early game tips @LD50 . you can make wooden shears with some wood and a sapling. Almost no durability, but cheap to make in numbers for shearing leaves, which you can put in barrels to make dirt and wooden crucibles for water. You can also put saplings in a barrel to make dirt, but always keep a "emergency" fund of at least 64 saplings, just in case anything untoward happens.
using the same shape as a crook, you can combine 4 crooks into a compressed crook for much more durability.
using bottom slabs (slabs on the bottom of the block instead of the top) prevents mod spawning, since torches are difficult to get early game.
You can enchant the meshes that go in sieves, fortune 3 and efficiency 4 are your primary concerns here to get ridiculous amounts of materials.
There are 4 mesh tiers (mesh, flint mesh, iron mesh, diamond mesh) each mesh provides slightly different resources when you sieve/autosieve with them. So don't do like me and use all diamond meshes, then wonder why you got no copper (copper doesn't drop from iron/diamond meshes).
Some materials like endergravel can only be sieved on lower tier meshes, again check JEI.
I mentioned in the previous post. make a wood crucible, then put sheared leaf blocks in it. That'll give you water.
Grind cobble to gravel to sand to dust with a hammer, then put dust in the barrel with 1000mb water to get clay, which you can use to make your first bucket.

Yeah, I was just lazy and waited for it to rain (I mean, this is Forge, how long would I really have to wait...) I have my bucket now.

As soon as you get enough iron look into making the cobblegen block from..tiny..tiny something I forget the name of the mod. basically an automatic cobblegen, will require a transfernode/pipe to get the cobble out and into a chest/drawer/whatever, but its a lot better than a manual cobblegen..and you can upgrade it to produce cobble faster as you get more and more resources.
World interaction upgrades use the special energy system that mod uses now, it's a real pain to get. Wheras the biggest cost in the auto cobblegen is having two iron buckets. I'm not sure if clay buckets would work too.
Can't you just throw a world interaction upgrade on a regular transfer node? Or is this better than that?
There are no world interaction upgrades anymore, iirc theres a way to do it..but honestly the cobblegen block is even better. Might not produce a billion cobble per tick like you are used to with old extra utilities...but its damn good. Even tier 1 can produce enough to supply a lot of uses, and the higher tiers just increase the crazy.
oh btw grow rice once you get the seeds
You can use rice to make slime balls and paper. rice ball + blaze powder (which you get from sifting) = magma cream.
2x2 magma cream = magmablock.
Put a stone barrel on a magma block, and put water in it..and the water transmutes slowly into fire water. Which gives an 8x multiplier on the crucible to lava gen (vs 1 of a torch and 3 of lava)

Regrowth was pretty awesome though.
This..does not sound familiar at all

I cant recall ever having made a truly successful villager farm. I've gotten them to breed, but I never got iron golems.
not that it matters in modded minecraft, where iron is so abundant you'd build your house out of blocks of it.

To bad its not on a server, then we could cuddle atop the tree as we lament the decay of reality.

I had completely forgotten about that.
I HAD THOUSANDS OF WHEAT IN THAT BARREL, AND YOU DESTROYED IT ALL WITH YOUR GODDAMN POWER CLAW.

Why?
Cause I've opened 18 of them.
Know what I've gotten?
at least they aren't essential for progression..just occasionally nifty boosts
