Hello veterans, newbies, and outsiders looking to get your feet wet; Welcome to Phalla. This is going to be the most basic of games. There are absolutely no hidden roles or rules and there will be no narration fluff. Every action will be revealed at the end of every night with as detailed of an explanation as needed.
Apart from the normal phalla rules, I am going to implement the following rule for this game:
Anyone may participate in the thread. However, if you are not in the game or you are dead, you may not discuss the actual game situation. You may discuss general tactics, answer questions, whatever. I will be strict about this and kill people off if the rules are broken.A dead/nonparticipant person must post in LightBlue to identify that they are not a part of the game.So what is phalla? You should probably follow
this link to find out more.
What are the specifics for this game?1. I would like every participant to have 3 games or less Phalla experience. If signups are going extremely slow, I will move this number back.
3. You will
!vote Player in red, and
!retract Player in green.
4. Any clarifications requested should be posted in orange.
5. Every night will end at
10:00PM EST FOR GAME 3. I will be sending PMs out to everyone and posting in this thread to let you know when the game will begin.
6. You can sign up by saying
!sign up in any color.

scientific fact
but this has been comin' for a long time, maybe it'll be successful.
All veterans should reserve.
p.s. you forgot to explain how to signup to us noobs :P
I guess I'm sort of a veteran at this point.
EDIT: Actually I think I read Squash's post completely wrong, so nevermind.
I've been in 3
Seriously.
I sign up If I can.
Xmas Phalla doesn't count b/c you got killed due to your name on day 1.
Tell me about it.
Ho Ho Ho
*Flak Cannon*
For some reason I thought you meant people who were experienced should sign up.
The reason is that I am very tired.
Always default your vote and/or special ability (if you have one).
By "default", I mean, the minute you log in for that round, if you have a special ability, USE IT IMMEDIATELY. If you have a vote, quickly scan the thread then throw a vote in.
By placing a vote, you won't get taken out for inactivity, and by using your ability, you haven't wasted it.
I say this advice because 90% of the games here have a "retract vote" ability**, where you can take away a vote your placed and direct it elsewhere. Most Phalla Game Masters allow players to change their special ability targets right up until the vote closes. Some games (few and far-between, and you will be informed which when you read their rules) only allow you to place a single, unchanging vote, so do be careful and read the rules first to ensure you can retract your vote before defaulting a vote.
Too many times have I seen vigilante attacks wasted due to waiting till the last minute or not being able to get to the computer at a later time. Too many players have been screwed over by inactive guardians who forget to send in their commands for that round. Too many specials have been culled from the game due to inactivity/non-voting.
Always default early and often.
ADDITIONAL
It is understandable that some players don't like to place a default vote early on because they don't know who to vote for, or they're simply not voting as a mental tactic. That is understandable, but forgetting to vote at all for a day, yet being 100% available online is generally inexcusable, and game masters tend to boot those players out of their game.
!reserve
I wonder how many Phallas i've been in. . .
Good specials may not think so, but more often than not, they will be using their abilities very predictably, instead of making deductive reasoning for themselves or going on hunches.
Most often, they will almost always follow orders from someone they think knows more than them, especially if it seems urgent. This has worked very well for me in the past.
Vigilantes Almost always tend to go for the second or third place vote-getters, and very rarely kill those with no votes on them.
Let's face it: the most vocal die early and often. If you're evil, postcounts in the middle of the pack is very wise, just because there's always going to be the newer specials who will kill or seer those who are visible.
Oh, and a bus driver is the most fun role ever.

Is this always the case? Or was you're theory proven in the FMA thread ?
any color, bold or not. just make it colored so its easier to see.
It's pretty much always the case.
FMA was a wierd game for me, mostly because the game before, I might have picked up a few grudges, and I expected to die day 1. I had hoped to be a villager, but somehow got stuck with the main character, so I needed to make a reveal day one.
Though Zerinan didn't believe me apparently
He will pay.

I believed you. Does that count?
Or is there a tendency for good guys and bad guys to get more pumped about their role and try to manipulate things? Or does it go both ways, and some hide completely (as your logic would seem to make that the most wise choice)?
I was a villager in FMA and got it pretty quick from the bad guy side. But I was more excited to discuss things since everything was a mystery...but maybe I get more easily amused than others..
I as well.
Advice: Vocal Players / Player Habits / Tells
The first thing a bad guy should do is create a Proboard to coordinate discussion outside of PMs.
Enterprising "new" bad guys should agree to take a spread of "posting roles". One might only post once a day, while another is chatty. Then-again, some players have adopted styles and try to be consistent when they play. Others are not, and that gives them "tells".
For example, when precisionk is a special role, he (more often than not) stops being so boisterous and risky in his public game posts.

Really, that's the point of the game. Some of the fun you might have is using the game thread as a place to chat along with changing avatar and signatures to fit the themes. The other might be the chance to find out your hunch was correct and you nailed a bad guy or good guy special as a bad guy.
Don't afraid to be vocal if you want to talk or have something to say. The most vocal people are not always the first to go anymore when they used to be.
Would love to get in one one of these. I have 0 experience in them, mainly because the ones had here were so full of veterans I feared the ass kicking I would receive.
You will be paranoid. My first ever phalla game I PMed the GM(or what ever you call who runs the game) to make sure I was not evil because people were bandwangoning me and made me think I was.
It's an awesome game.
edit - Bandwagon. When a group of people vote for the same person for some reason.
Terms need to be spelled out for all us noobs.
Usually the veterans on these boards beat each other up. While funny to watch, much of the time it references past games or experiences which tend to be of the "You had to have been there" variety.
Vets do not normally attack new players in these in order to curb discouragement with new players (though, it's been known to happen), with Toxic Toys being a notable exception (at least in the Christmas Phalla) due to having a very unfortunate name.
