The Miltian Conflict.
A protracted struggle between the Federation and the Immigrant Fleet, the Miltian Conflict was born from the Federation’s desire to extend their control over the planet of Miltia, where the Original Zohar was suspected to be kept.
Near the end of the recorded history of the Conflict, the Federation engaged in an operation called the Third Descent. This involved deploying a massive army of Realian soldiers, among whom were units designed specifically to neutralize the power channeled by the Zohar.
It appeared that the Federation was prevailing until the Immigrant Fleet, perhaps in desperation, activated an experimental device called the Song of Nephilim. What followed was the stuff of nightmares. The Realian troops were driven insane by the Song and began destroying everything in sight. Some of the humans were similarly affected, and the ones who weren’t were quickly consumed by the massacre.
Miltia’s civilization was entirely obliterated in the aftermath of the Third Descent. Even the U.M.N. hyperspace jump columns were severed, leaving the planet inaccessible. All contact was lost for over a decade. The fate of the few who remained… was unknown.
The fate of the Zohar itself… was unknown.

Q: What’s a Phalla?
A: Check it out.
Q: How Phalla is this Phalla?
A: This will be a traditional-styled Phalla. There will be one or more factions classified as “evil.”
Q: I don’t know the first thing about Xenosaga. Can I play?
A: Of course. I will be using terms and characters from the series, and if you want to look into them, I recommend the Xenosaga wiki. But don’t worry if you feel blindsided by the avalanche of faction names and acronyms, because those of us who played the game went through the same thing and most likely still feel the same way. It’s the Xenosaga experience. Gameplay mechanics-wise, however, I will explain everything without assuming prior knowledge of the series.
Q: I know everything there is to know about Xenosaga. Will the narrations be canon, or are you just going to pull stuff out of your ass that sounds thematically appropriate?
A: Yes.
Q. OMG spoilers?
A: To a minor extent, yes. There will be a few spoilers regarding which "side" certain characters end up on. For the people who haven't played the games at all, this won't be an issue. But if you're halfway through the series, it'll probably affect your perception of those characters. There will be no plot-related spoilers.
Q. Xenogears is better. Why didn't you base the Phalla on that?
A. Shut up.
Rules
Voting will close each day at 9 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (4 a.m. GMT).
Vote in red, retract in lime. I !don’t !need a bunch of exclamation !points to !indicate votes. Retractions, however, are required.
I ask all players to get at least two or three posts in per day, including voting. If you find yourself unable to continue participating mid-game, please let me know rather than simply disappearing.
Role PMs may not be quoted, only paraphrased. Anonymous contact is prohibited.
Any external boards that are created must be accessible to me.
Send all actions, clarification requests, tea party invitations, and professions of undying love to Nephilim.
Gameplay mechanics
In addition to voting, this Phalla will use a system of AP, or ability points. Each player will gain a certain number of AP per day that they may use toward their abilities. Your Role PM will indicate how much AP you gain per day and what abilities you have available to you.
Abilities are shown in the following format:
[#AP] Ability Name (target, effect)
Some abilities have an unknown effect at the beginning of the game. They will be explained in due time.
AP does not need to be used immediately. All unused AP carries over to the following day.
There will also be items in play that boost one’s AP gain. These are Zohar Emulators. There are 12 in play, and they will be randomly distributed to begin the game. They may not be given to other players. Killing a player with an Emulator will give you control of that Emulator. Voting out a player with an Emulator will randomly distribute the Emulator.
Role PMs will begin going out now. Zohar Emulator PMs will follow later. If you receive an Emulator, you may safely assume that your Day 1 AP is one higher than stated in your role PM.
I will be keeping track of all player’s AP, however, for my own sanity, I am not going to be PMing anybody a daily tally of their AP. If necessary, you may ask me what your current AP standing is.
There are multiple possible villager PMs. All players will receive one of them.

Steam
Now do I make an Albedo or Rubedo avatar =/
Will this spoil 3? Yes I know 2 sucks and I shouldn't bother, but I'll finish it first anyway.
Steam
Thats a good point, I stopped 3(haven't beat 2 yet either) about halfway through and I do plan to pick it up again some day. I'm guessing this takes place around XS 1 time frame though considering the OP.

I was actually just about to address that.
There will be a few spoilers regarding which "side" certain characters end up on. For the people who haven't played the games at all, this won't be an issue. But if you're halfway through the series, it'll probably affect your perception of those characters. I guess it's up to you. I thought you would have had enough time to finish them by now, wanker.
There will be no plot-related spoilers.

I have now addressed this in the About section.
Nice, Xenogears WAS great. But really come on stop being wads about it. Just because you don't like Xenosaga doesn't mean you have to bring up Xenogears whenever Xenosaga is mentioned.
Hmm, I'd rather phalla than care about XS spoilers anyways now that I think about it. My backlog is so huge it'll probably be a long while before I get to it again anyways.
Never played Xenosaga, but I love Xenogears. Hopefully there's some sort of overlap there.
Get to it!
Jesus, you are insane. Thats like playing 12 hours a day.
You can totally add my name to this list.
I've watched it played, well most of the first one at least. not even most.
But, I know what the symbol on the Zohar is!
Does that count?

Someone should totally condense the series into a bite sized movie format.

Sigh up!
Ep 1, 2, or 3?
From what I have heard, you only really want to play 1 and 3. 2 is supposedly the weakest in the series (though I haven't played it myself), and 3 includes a plot summary and a glossary so that you can safely skip 2.
If you enjoy nigh-endless story sequences and turn-based JRPG play, you will like 1 and 3.
EDIT: And giant robots, I forgot about those.
Um, 3? It has been a while.
Guess which one the UK got!
EDIT: Oh, good.
