I would actually go so far as to say that, yes, Pro-Life women are against women's rights. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but they seem to do it anyway. And like I said before, you ever see pictures of a Pro-Life rally? The men pretty much always outnumber the women.

And "My body, my choice" ties into the whole egalitarian nature of the women's rights movement. There's no legislation on men even approaching something like the illegalization of abortion. So anti-abortion laws are tantamount to telling women "You don't know what you're doing with your body, we're gonna step in and decide for you."

Well I mean she obviously got pregnant by accident, so maybe she really doesn't. Plus, I mean, women are kinda dumb.

I'm OK with people who are pro-life as long as they hold life being sacred across the board. As soon as they say that the death penalty is OK or war is alright for any reason, then their point is moot.

Wait, that makes no sense whatsoever. Saying "you cannot kill an unborn baby because it is alive and is innocent of any wrongdoing" is not mutually exclusive with believing that an adult can earn death by going on a murderous rampage or something. It's also not mutually exclusive with willingness to defend your own life by fighting a war against, for example, a genocidal foreign nation.

I think what hes saying in on both cases you're taking a life with an attempt to justify it.

Its just sort of... haggling over whats a reasonable exchange rate. Attacking an a potentially agressive country vs getting an abortion due to a life threatening pregnancy? Both cases you're placing your safety at a higher priority than others.

The bold part is not an issue and thus shouldn't be discussed.

Okay so I added a bit to my little script that checks Wikipedia for party affiliation

worked for 417 / 523, not too bad

    From that:

    Democrats: 235
    Avg value: 7,561,591.17

    Republicans: 182
    Avg value: 7,756,582.07

Or, nearly exactly the same, with republicans leading by $200,000

Interesting side note that this reveals: Republicans are significantly more likely to have names that lead to disambiguation pages on Wikipedia

I'll let you draw your own conclusions

I think it's safe to say that there are way, way more rich white people in the Republican party per capita than in the Democratic party.

My conclusion is that this is a bullshit statement.

However, 51% of the republicans in this had a net worth > 1 million, compared to just 42% for the democrats

so I guess the fact that there are some fucking stupid rich democratic congresspeople throws it off a bit

The Dems have more newer congressman though so that would effect it and a net worth of 1 million isn't that much.

Seriously this is the party of the Kennedys, Heinz-Kerrys, and Clintons. I can't believe this is a surprise to anyone. Learn how to DC, nubs.

While his post is fully as asinine as you make it out to be I do think actually trying to argue any political topics in SE++ is an exercise in futility. There is a damn good reason Deacon hides here instead of getting his deluded ramblings torn to shreds in a more moderated environment.

I'll mop the floor with you on any given subject, and have been posting on D&D for the last three months but okay.

Sure it can, give it five or six years.

Wait a minute-- People are only against abortion because they're sexists?

Not because they have a different definition of life?

Oh so we shouldn't give infants any legal protections, by the time they can think and speak they're no longer infants after all! Great counter bro.

I think it's safe to say that there are way, way more rich white people in the Republican party per capita than in the Democratic party.

    cite please

Turns out 51% of Republican congresspeople are millionaires, compared to about 42% for Democrats, and have a greater net worth by $200,000 on average.

I'd be remiss if I didn't point out, however, that the citation request had nothing to do with congress.
