This dog right here knows what's up. He knows we can't be bothered with stupid books with words and such. So what does this dog do? He gives us the low down and the heads up about these "classic" books you're always being told to read. National treasure? Certainly. National hero? Most likely. Hebrew National hot dog? Loves em!

Fuck yes wishbone. Wishbone made me love classic literature long before I was capable of reading it
Also when I was five my dad got his picture taken next to a cardboard cutout of wishbone somewhere and I spent the next two years convinced he had gotten to meet wishbone without me
It's is an awesome little dog in a variety of costumes. Telling kids about classical literature by being awesome and adorable. Shootin arrows and earning a red badge of courage and whatnot.
As a kid I generally loathed the children's programs on PBS and would rather spend time playing the Genesis, but I remember actually enjoying this show in particular.
Oh sweet goodness. Ghost Writer. How I loved Ghost Writer.
Now in the interest of honesty. I didn't watch Wishbone as a child. It was the only thing on my network only tv during the timeframe of me arriving home from work, fixing dinner and eating. So I watched it.
So yeah. ITT Thelonius starting watch Wishbone when he was 18.

Wishbone was my main source of information for many book reports that I forgot about till a day or two before they were due. This dog was responsible for many A's.
