On a related note, could have seen more of Ozy's backstory.

I have to assume that got filmed, though I don't know for sure.

I liked all the casting as well. it seemed weird to me until I was in the theater and then it seemed perfect.

I hope they have an interview with Veidt in the extended edition and say that his parents left him a lot of money but he gave it all away and built his empire from nothing etc. and at least have SOMETHING about the "Veidt Method" to help explain the "super"-strength, because that was always something I liked about the GN because it helps pound home that this is attempting to be a realistic introspective about the real world, about real people.

There is a guy holding a Veidt Method pamphlet (or something with an add for it) before he gets vaporized.

I find it easier to believe the more over-the-top fight scenes in this when I remember that a human supposedly without superpowers catches a bullet.

to be fair even the graphic novel lampshades this really heavily

Wow... What a really unique piece of art, I think. :O

I can't explain why this makes me feel kind of sad, but it does

But then again if they movie never came out I probably would have never been into Watchmen.

I think the best tactic you can use going into the novel is to view the film as a homage, a tribute to the best bits of the original, which is inevitably a lot longer and wider and deeper in scope

there's just no other way to compare the two, because one is really startlingly more dense and intricately structured than the other

I liked the Tonk Hanks film, but never read the book.

It's funny how there were Christians protesting it.

Although, to be fair, they had a somewhat decent reason to be pissed about the original print. Protesting the film was just stupid, though.

    the film was incredibly terrible

This may be why I enjoyed it!

    Or not.

My taste, and good taste, seem to be pretty hit and miss.

Either way I thought most of the big names in it did pretty well, even if they a lot of them had barely any screen time. I would have liked more of Alfred Molina.

The Da Vinci Code was overwhelmingly stupid

it was entertaining at times but the unrelenting rain of idiocy pushed it below "a wash" into the realm of "fairly bad"

That's it. Really. I hope the movie inspires people to read the book. I haven't seen the movie but I know that it can't possibly offer the same experience as the graphic novel and it would be a real shame if people start identifying Watchmen with the movie instead of the book.

It's entirely possible that some people just may still prefer the movie after reading the book.

I prefer the film version of V For Vendetta to the graphic novel.

I have not seen the V for Vendetta movie

this is mostly because I find the graphic novel's take on anarchist themes and the Thatcher regime's uncomfortably fascist ideals about 600% more interesting than another anti-Bush screed, which is what I heard the film basically came down to

if I am wrong I will probably check it out
