alright, so as a rule i'd knew that if a bunch of you hated it I would by default love it
said rule is still in effect
now, for my thoughts on the film:
The film is its own beast. The violence part of the equation most notably. I note that many of you think that things hinted upon in the book are bonked over the head of the viewer. I call bullshit, as aforementioned hints are nearly non-existent in this. It's trimming off a lot from a story that was pretty lean for an ensemble piece. It was outright the only way to convey that information to someone who hadn't read it before.
Only qualms I had with this? That goddamn sex scene's hilarious song choice.
because bella botega first acted cool that a parent was buying my ticket, then wanted them to show ID, and THEN wanted them to buy another ticket so that a parent would be there in the movie
I was hells of excited to see this yesterday, but I had to be up today at like, 5 am to get stuff done and catch a train so I had to get to sleep early
So I thought "no problem, I'll see it in the afternoon"
and then the bus was late and it had already started and bleh I guess I'll have to see it tonight

That's it. Really. I hope the movie inspires people to read the book. I haven't seen the movie but I know that it can't possibly offer the same experience as the graphic novel and it would be a real shame if people start identifying Watchmen with the movie instead of the book.

Lord of the Rings.
The LotR Movies are an upgrade.
The books were too much description, not enough doing.
Tolkien had a hardon for backstory, and loved writing page after page about shit that goes nowhere.
You think an uncut Watchmen film would have been too long?

Nevermind that a few eagles could have circumvented the entire fucking trilogy.
I think it's possibly the best transition we could have hoped for -
the changes made sense, and olthough I would have liked more Rorschach/psychiatrist scenes (especially because of the influence Rorschach has over him)
, but I loved every bit of it.
9/10....even if Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah was off-putting

what is incredible about 2001 is that it does not date, at all
I do not know how the fuck Kubrick nailed that

They hated it.
They also hated the graphic novel.
But they're like fucking huge comic book nerds.
What?
Does the movie do this scene any justice at all?

I don't want to see it by myself, and money is extremely tight this month.

"I'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with me" for best line ever
so the movie got the R rating?
i could swear it's rated 15 years and older over here.
9/10....even if Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah was off-putting
The movie was so good though, it's a shame Malin Ackerman can't act for shit.
