So yeah. In the last game I tried, for a really rare card like mirror force, it cost like 10,000DP (duel points), of which you got around 500 per won duel. Booster packs cost from 150DP-700DP. But yeah.....it sucks.

I don't know if you're talking about GBA World Champ 2006, but if you're getting 500 DP per duel you're doing it wrong. I consistently get 700-1000 DP per duel with my zombie speed deck, and occasionally for shits and giggles I'll pay a Final Countdown deck that gets 2500-2900 DP per duel.

No, I was speaking of the GX game Duel Academy. In that game DP can range from 300-800 (if you're really lucky) in a standard duel.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

So far I've managed to construct a very powerful Dark World deck, and a barely passable Gravekeeper deck.

It's such a grind to get the cards you need to build on new deck themes though. I'd have to say it's one of the most irritating and disappointing aspect of the game as it stands. If your players are paying per duel, throw them a bone, not a freaking crumb when it ends.

So wait, I have to pay for this crap once the beta is over?

    Fuck that noise.

And what are those shops that I see? In the duel academy, there's guards outside 'em. And the one in Domino is closed.

I guess they open up once the beta is over?

Who knows. I can't find any official information on the full game or it's release features. And yeah, the charging scheme for Yugioh online is buying "Duel pass points" which allow you to have like 20 duels or something per pack. Then you have to buy more if you wanna keep duelling. It's pretty dumb.

I'd recommend getting the new DS game which is coming out soon and features Wi-fi play for online free duelling (or that program YVD, but that eliminates the fun somewhat of actually trying to get that card you need for your deck). Unfortunately, the DS game doesn't feature online card trading. Maybe in the next game.

Ah-ha, and the handheld games use that code inputting thing where you can put in a numerical code on a real life card and you get it in the game.

I can so use my real deck that way.

    Sweeeeet.

You can use any card that way. Find a picture of the card online.

in that shitty PS1 Yugioh game, which followed none of the real rules of the game, you had to pay to unlock cards.

that game was shit in game form.

I was having a lot of fun with this program, until I found out that when the beta closes in a week you lose all your shit. And then you actually have to pay per duel you play online... shit.

Yeah well, I'd like to play this game on a long term basis, but paying per duel bites :I I'd much rather have it be some sort of low monthly fee.

GX tag force is actually the best yugioh game IMO. Every single card, and you can download new packs when they come out.

YuGiOh GX! I'm interested in it, mainly because I have no idea what the GX of Yu-Gi-Oh GX is. Anyone want to enlighten me? (Read: don't post a link to wikipedia)

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is the sequel to Yu-Gi-Oh and it's set at this massive school that has the single aim of teaching kids how to play children's card games.

Spirit Caller/Spirit Summoner is the upcoming YGO game for the DS and it's set in this GX universe.

Other than that, I don't know much.

Spirit Caller also has the distinction of being the first DS Yugioh game to offer online duelling via WiFi. Unfortunately no online card trading as of yet. Afterall, Konami likes to release one of these games every 3 months for maximum milkage, and so has placed a limit of 1 new feature per game, if that.

So this free alternative....you can't go find people? you have to know the person? because all i see is the option to duel using ip address. its like a friend code!

and of course, it doesnt look as nice. but it's all I've got.

I presume you're referring to YVD, though you don't specify. Last time I played, there was a central chat server accessible from the program itself I think. If that's no longer the case, try here:

and what do you do in the chat? can you go directly to battle, or do you have to trade IP addresses?

I take it you've never seen an IRC interface before. Whilst I'd love to walk you through it, it's been a while, and to answer your previous question, yes, IP trading did take place.

I see you brought up a list of chat rooms. One at the top is helpfully entitled as the HelpDesk. You could try enquiring there.
