Well this is fucking sexy. I can almost forgive the blatant rip off of Zelda and Dragon Warrior. Of course, I'm pretty sure the title of the game states that it's ripping off old 8-bit games.

This may possibly be the first game that's actually going to make me regret not getting a PS3.

Considering the graphics of the game, I'm hoping there's loads of customization and possibly even world editing. I mean, it wouldn't be difficult at all to design a model editor around the concept, then plug and play with the models.

Huh. I was positive this was a PS3/360 game but apparently it isn't. Weird.

Ah well, I took a look around and it doesn't appear like From Software are even developing this game. Looks like it's Silicon Studio's, who I've never heard before but have Sony, Namco and Square Enix as shareholders (amongst a bunch of other fairly big companies, like Mitsubishi and Yamaha). They've only got a PSP game to their credit, called Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuk.

Regardless of my skepticism, the art style looks really neat and I hope From/Silicon manage to push it towards Demons Souls level of quality, rather than... Everything else From releases.

I can't help but feel a little disappointed. From the initial screenshots I saw, I thought that it'd be a sort of RPG, as it looked a lot like Dragon Warrior. The video though looks like pure Zelda. Hell, it even had Death Mountain with the rocks falling down.
Not only does it look like a Zelda ripoff (albeit with an awesome graphical style), but...at 1:38 in the video, is that Mario I spy? Gutsy.

It is actually some miner from an old video game that also had an HD remake recently.

It looks pretty cool. The only thing I don't like is that camera angle. Hopefully that can be changed.

There is a difference between parody and almost lifting something directly from another game and then calling it a parody. For example, the chickens don't really work as a parody unless they decide to preemptively attack because they are tired of goddamn PCs attacking them just to see what happens.

"Far a long time ago" was pretty obviously just bad engrish.

it's meta enough, at the very least, that it's clearly trying to do something subversive

edit: parody is the simplest way for it to do that and i don't suppose it could really fail
