On-Line Virus Scanner?

My computer is getting rocked by a virus right now and while I can't run programs I can access the internet. Are there any virus scanners, no matter how simple or whatever, that I can run through a website that people trust and that I won't have to download something for?

Back up your shit, nuke the machine and start fresh.

That's not an option at this point, so if anyone knows of anything on-line then please do let me know.

You could try Housecall by Trend Micro.

that list has a few. I've personally used Trend Micro, McAffee, Kapersky and F-Secure. Kapersky seemed to be the best, but none of them were spectacular.

I'll be honest with you: None of these are good last resorts in my experience. A system so far gone that normal methods aren't working is probably not going to be able to run these reliably, and malware strong enough that it's managed to screw over all the installed security software you've tried will usually prevent you from running these as well. They're better than nothing if the nuclear option isn't an option.

I am a computer tech and when someone I know gets infected it is a problem to install a virus scanner after the infection.

The best way is to remove your hard drive and take it to a computer that is clean and current with Mcafee or Symnatec and let it be scanned that way.

If it is a SATA drive it will be very easy. IDE might require a visit to the BIOS.
